It's okay. Universities tend to look at your application as a whole. Although it really depends where you are applying. Ivy Leagues are pretty strict. What you should focus on is writ ting a killer essay that promotes you as a unique individual who has a lot to offer. Think about how you are different from all the other very well rounded applicants. Essays are the pivotal element in your app next to interviews. Don't worry about what's lacking emphasize your strengths

High school GPA is important for University admission. If it's a little lower than it's required then they'll look at your SAT scores.

A lot of it depends on the crop of students they're trying to admit. If they get a lot of applicants with higher GPAs, your application will probably be turned down. If they get some so-so ones, yours will look better. If you're a junior or senior, you can only do so much to change your GPA by now. Better have a safety school, just in case. Then if you end up in your safety school, you should work your butt off for the first 2 years and reapply to the school you really want. Show them that you can do the work (if you haven't just slacked off and partied the last 2 years), and maybe you can get in then.

See? All that stuff your parents told you about studying hard was true!

Your GpA is important. However, if your Sat scores are high the school will generally overlook your slightly lower grade point average. I would make another suggestion. Unless you have your heart set on entering a 4 yr school right away, I would consider doing 2yrs. at a local JC college. It is far cheaper, you get much more attention by professors, it is a better learning enviroment, it is easier to get the classes you want, and JC tranfers are many more times likely to get into the school of their choice. This has been proven true over and over in studies done on this subject. Those same studies also have proven that JC tranfers are more successful as students, they have a stronger sense of direction and career, and are much more likely to get into the graduate school of their choice.

Most universities have a minimum GPA for admission. How flexible they are about this requirement varies from institution to institution. I would recommend paying a visit to the college you wish to attend, and discuss the matter with their admissions department. Sometimes you can get accepted on academic probation, sometimes you can take classes at a local community college for a while and pull up your GPA to the minimum, sometimes it's just flat "no." It just depends.

Lots of universities require a certain GPA to get in. You just have to check w/ the university you're thinking of attending.

HS GPA is very important but your SAT scores are also important. If you have really high SAT scores colleges would really want you to attend their schools.
