I am allergic to bleach and pregnant and concerned about hurting my baby by poisoning our food with harsh sprays. However, I do not want to risk getting food poisoned or ill with bacteria. Our fridge is brand new and has dirt inside it from the maintenance men who installed it. Any help would be highly appreciated! I was wondering if antibacterial dawn dish soap would work followed by vinegar. Thanks. :)

Edit: For those who use dish detergent, do you use antibacterial or regular? Is antibacterial safe to use?

I wash down the inside of my fridge with Dawn dishwashing liquid and a few spoonfuls of baking soda dissolved in hot water. Works great.

Go get some Fantastik. It is antibacterial but very harmless compared to the bleaches of the world. Just spray it all over your fridge and then let it sit for a while and take a paper towel and wipe it all down.

I would wash it out with hot water, and an antibacterial dish soap, that will clean it nicely.

You could use the vinegar, but you really do not need it.

Chlorinated Break Cleaner.

This will KILL any germs, bacteria. It acts a very good disinfectant and cleaner.

I also use it on my cuts to disinfect the wound.

"Non-chlorinated" break cleaner will not produce the same effects.... so don't use this stuff.

Do a google search for the many uses of Chlorinated Break Cleaner... you'll be amazed at what you can use this stuff with!

Dilute bleach will kill bacteria. Rinse or wipe down with plain water after, and let it dry. This is a common cleaner in food plants.
