Don't blame you one bit. They creep me out, too! Must have been those movies I watched in my childhood, like "It" and "Clown House." And somewhere I heard or read that something must be wrong with someone who has to paint on a fake smile. Anway, to get over it, you could try to hang out with a nice clown. Someone you know in and out of the costume. Or maybe you could dress up as one for Halloween. That could bring home the fact that it's just a costume. Then stay away from those creepy movies. All in all, I don't think clown phobia is abnormal-tons of people have it.

Find a hypnotist certified in a method of hypnosis called "5-PATH." They can help you find out what's causing your phobia and help you get rid of it. Incidentally, I have no problem with clowns and I only know a few people who do. It's human nature to assume "most people think and feel exactly the same way I do" but it's usually not accurate.

The best way would be to find a local outfit that trains people to become clowns. Becoming one yourself will certainly cure you, but maybe just seeing that they are real people underneath the makeup and crazy attire will be enough.
