great success=hard work

Both. Lots of people work hard for years and have little or nothing to show for it. However, there are many others who didn't work that much and became very successful. Success involves work, knowing the right people, having the right idea at the right time, not always playing nice, and a lot of luck.

I've been doing this (work) for a long time. Here's what I've found.

1. Those college degrees are good for getting you the job.

2. Once you're in, it takes an incredible amount of hard work to succeed.

3. Hard work only gets you so far. You also need impeccable timing and lady luck to achieve true success.

Well, the best thing for you to understand is that success is not a matter of luck, but a matter of choice...

If you regard success as a matter of luck you will adopt a passive attitude and you will just wait for it to come... and you wait... and you wait... This kind of attitude will never work.

Success come to those who are really looking for it today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, passing over each rejection and failure.

I would end up with a phrase:
"Success doesn't come to you,
you go to it."

It's very more likely that the true answer is hard work rather than luck, though sometimes luck counts. But hard work can beat luck, while luck can't beat "being lazy".

Yes, it takes both, but TIMING is another very important element to consider. So it takes Luck, Hard Work and Timing to be successful.

Hard work. A little luck in the right places sure doesn't hurt though.
