There is a line from the movie 'Changing Lanes' that goes, "At the end of the day, I do more good than harm".
I thought about that for a while and decided that it was a fair enough statement. I mean, if you can say that at the end of the day, you must be doing somethng right, no? Then it occured to me that if this is how most people view life, then all a person would need to do to be a 'good' person is calculate how much harm they could get away with during the course of the day and just find a way to cancel out the negative things for which they were responsible. How sad is that?

So, I decided that I would attempt to create a statement along those lines that would more accurately embody my perception on the matter.
This is what I came up with:

"If, at the end of the day, you've done everything in your power to cause no harm, then you've done well".

So far, it seems to be working out ok.

Your opinion on this might change. For example, there are good days at the office but on my deathbed I doubt I would pray for one more day at the office.
