Won't the trash collectors just leave it on the curb with the rest of them?

cut it into small pieces and put it in a different one
or just throw in down the sewer

Leave a note on it telling them to take it. Or put a For Sale sign on it for about 5 bucks, then somebody will steal it. Or, put it in with a neighbors trash, and let them worry about it.

My trash people told me to leave a note on the can saying that I don't want it and they will take it. Otherwise they said they will leave it.

If it is metal, you can take it to the recycle center. If plastic, cut it up and put it in garbage bags.
