If you want to make the paragraph longer, then add details about what you did and how you felt when you strayed from the rules of your family, or lived in a way that was different from them.

The way it's written doesn't make grammatical sense. Think of what you are trying to convey. Basically there are two things. Firstly about your happiness when your lifestyle matches that in your upbringing and secondly the financial implications of needing to work to earn extra money. Try something like this.

As grew older I began to consider my current situation when compared with that when I was younger. In those halcyon days between childhood and adulthood, I attended High School and, on reflection, realise that these were amongst the happiest times of my life. I find now that whenever my lifestyle matches or seems to be similar to how it was at that time, I begin to experience a sensation of contentment that is enhanced by the knowledge that I am, once again, transcending how things are now, to how they were then and reliving those wonderful years.

Then stark reality hits me as I return to the way my life is now. After leaving High School and becoming yet another member of 'The Real World', with all the liabilities it holds and responsibilities inherent to it with a 'standard lifestyle', it became necessary for me to work double shifts in my new found job, I hesitate to call it a career, just to make ends meet.

But I now find that I am the happiest when I live in accordance with my upbringing. After High School, I had to work double shifts just to make ends meet. Now, however, I am able to be satisfied with less "stuff", and I prioritize my days to be able to spend time with those I love.
