I am a music lover and find my happiest moments of the day when the perfect song comes on at the perfect moment. When I was in college I would walk to classes with my iPod and when the right song came on, I felt like everything in my life was right... or everything would be okay. I have a lot of songs that could be part of the soundtrack, I'd have a whole series of soundtracks... but these 3 are probably the best.

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship
"Happy Girl" by Martina McBride
"Love You Out Loud" by Rascal Flatts

The song "Soundtrack to our Movie" by Mae is another good one. It is the first track on the soundtrack to my life or my movie for that matter! :-)

1. Imagine - John Lennon - A song of hope and looking at what the world would be like if we cared for one another and were less materialistic 2. Nights In White Satin - Moody Blues - Just a beautiful tune - and it comes from what is generally believed to be the first progressive rock album 3. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan - Lyrically, somewhat mystifying if you really listen to the words, but its been named as the greatest rock and roll song more than once 4. We Gotta Get Out Of This Place - The Animals - This was everyone's theme song when we were in college back during the mid-'60's 5. I Can't Get You Out Of My Mind - The Collegiates - Ok, so not that many people have heard of this record since it was only a regional hit in West Virginia back during the late '60's - it only hit something like No. 52 on the national charts - so why is it on this list? Sentiment. The group's lead singer, Larry Ascough was a friend of mine. And, its a great song about lost love. Do I really have to stop at 5?

-"Ripple" by The Grateful Dead. It's about a spiritual journey.

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come thru the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.

Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.

But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

-"Life by the Drop" by Stevie Ray Vaughan reminds me of old friends. I've played this song with some of them over the years.

Hello there, my old friend
Not so long ago it was til the end
We played outside in the pouring rain
On our way up the road we started over again

Up and down the road in our worn down shoes
Talkin about good things and singin the blues
you went your way and I stayed behind
We both knew it was just a matter of time

No wasted time, we're alive today
Churnin up the past, there's no easier way
Time's been between us, a means to an end
God it's good to be here walkin together my friend

We're livin our dreams
my mind's stopped achin,'
That's how it happened livin life by the drop

-"Ghost of a Chance" by Rush reminds me of the drawn-out drama (also known as high school) through which I met my wife.

Like a million little doorways
All the choices we made
All the stages we passed through
All the roles we played

For so many different directions
Our separate paths might have turned
With every door that we opened
Every bridge that we burned

Somehow we find each other
Through all that masquerade
Somehow we found each other
Somehow we have stayed
In a state of grace

I don't believe in destiny
Or the guiding hand of fate
I don't believe in forever
Or love as a mystical state
I don't believe in the stars or the planets
Or angels watching from above
But I believe there's a ghost of a chance we can find someone to love
And make it last...

Like a million little crossroads
Through the back streets of youth
Each time we turn a new corner
A tiny moment of truth

For so many different connections
Our separate paths might have made
With every door that we opened
Every game we played

Somehow we find each other
Through all that masquerade
Somehow we found each other
Somehow we have stayed
In a state of grace

I don't believe in destiny
Or the guiding hand of fate
I don't believe in forever
Or love as a mystical state
I don't believe in the stars or the planets
Or angels watching from above
But I believe there's a ghost of a chance we can find someone to love
And make it last...

For the closing credits - "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw

Hmmmm, tough question since I have been "into" music my entire life

we will start with
Omaha by Moby Grape or
Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem of course you could not start the list without including
Crosstown Traffic by Jimi Hendrix

then we would have to move on to another period in my life with
You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker or
Don't Know Much by Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville or perhaps
Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? by Bryan Adams

of course as I have "matured" if that is what you want to call it we would have to include
When You Come Back Down by Nickel Creek or
When It Doesn't Come Easy by Patty Griffin or even Your
Body Is a Wonderland and/or
Dreaming with a Broken Heart by John Mayer (you really could include almost anything Mayer does on the list)

So there are a very miniscule part of the soundtrack of my life, I would need another 10,000 to really define it.

Too many songs, too long of life. 3 songs don't give 50 years justice.

One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer - George Thoroughgood. My 1975-1986 years

While you see a chance and Still in the Game- Steve Winwood

Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts

The Song remembers When - Trisha Yearwood.

The hardest part of love - From the Musical "Children of Eden" (letting your kids grow up is the hardest thing we ever do.)

As long as I am not taking the dirt nap and I'm vertical I am still in the game.

Bye, bye miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
And good ol' boys were drinking whisky and rye?
Singing this will be the day that I die
this will be the day that I die

The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush, my darling, don't fear, my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

Put a Little Love in Your Heart
Take a good look around and
if you're lookin' down
put a little love in your heart
I hope when you decide
kindness will be your guide
put a little love in your heart.

Fur Elise (Beethoven) - during my middle school years, I loved to play the Piano and my kids love to hear me play this song (so it actually fits two different periods of my life).

"Thank you Lord" (Dan Burgess) - it's a song that I can relate to with my disability and with facing the trials throughout my life.

"In my daughter's eyes" (Martina McBride)- a recent addition, I love that song and it makes me want to be the mom my daughters will be proud of. It's also one that I will remember from my recent college stint as I first heard that song when I was working nights while in college.
