I don't think so.
Im white and i find white people look down at me because i deliberately drive an old large car.I think it is a wealth issue.
More white americans have money than black americans thats why they look down on them.
I also think the world has changed a lot.
Its 2007 not 1967.
I think poor white and black people have more in common than say a rich and poor black guy would.
The facts are simple and undeniable.
There are racists everywhere.
85% is a made up number somebody pulled out of a hat.
I suppose you better ask the 150 million white people who live in the usa if they are racist then you will no the true figure.

I've not seen the episode of Panorama as yet. However a quick check on the web shows where the figure is likely to have come from and in its correct context too.
"While a recent ABC News poll indicates that 84 percent of Americans say a candidate being black would not affect their vote, the dirty little secret is what some pollsters and consultants call “the 15 percent lie” — the supposed percentage of whites who tell pollsters they would be willing to vote for a black candidate but in the privacy of the voting booth never actually would."

I have no idea where that pecentage came from ...although, of course, , there are white and black racists, so in all fairness, Panorama should have examined both sides of that coin. Whether 85% is accurate is questionable. Is that a certain control group or the USA or North America?

This question doesn't make any sense. But no, I don't think that 85%, or the majority of White Americans are racist to blacks. How can you prove what percentage of white people are racist?

that's ok. 100% of blacks want everything for free and if they cannot, they rape,steal, and kill for it. they do not care if a man is standing right next to his wife, they will hit on her. can you see why they might be a little racist? very sad world isn't it to have these views. I am glad I really do not think this hateful and biased because all of this is lies and we are ALL guilty of it. for those blacks that I have offended, I am sorry, I really am trying to show that hate and lies never end, it is just grown. God Bless every race, we are ALL God's children and shame on all who say otherwise.

I believe its true.Its so funny to me when 85% white population are racist with statistics its questionable or reasonable doubt but when its dealing with African Americans an statistics of any sort its factual.Funny!

I believe it. New Hampshire and Arizona didn't recognize MLK Jr Day until a few years ago. I think racism is still present, just more subtle and confined to your home or like-minded friends. Just because lynch mobs aren't roaming the streets doesn't mean people don't think that way.

Did they say where they got this data? Was it from polls or was it just a guess?
There are definately still racist whites out there, but I don't believe that 85% of them are racist. I would bet it would be a much lower number. Probably single digit.

.......but people love living among us. why is that? they LOVE living among us but sure as hell will not move to the country of their ancestors' origins. I guess they don't like how their own people control and run a country.
