Agreed
You hit the nail on the head. They aren't even from Iraq for the most part. Many are from Iran and Syria as well as Lebanon. To call them "freedom fighters" is like calling a snail a bird.

While not fighting for individual freedom, they are opposing an occupation, so trying to 'free' Iraq from foreign rule - even if that means establishing an opressive theocratic or fascist regime.
As to how long the Democrats will be "on the terrorists' side," well, only until they've captured the White House and a solid majority in Congress. Once they're firmly in control, they'll be treating America's enemies as their enemies again - they'll have no choice, afterall. Of course, once back in the role of opposition party, the Republicans will be every bit as 'unpatriotically' critical of the Administration as the Democrats have been.

They can stand up for these terrorists forever. How can one argue that the terrorists are "freedom fighters"? That is such a ridiculous thought that I refuse to formulate an argument against it because the answer is so obvious. I hate to throw out stereotypes, but people who support this kind of behavior are generally not the intellectual type. They don't think things through, and they rely on others to think for them. As a result, you rarely get any coherent thought from them. All you hear is a regurgitation of something they've heard before, no mater how intellectually void the statement is. It's frustrating because I actually enjoy a spirited debate when it is based on facts and legitimate thought.
When I hear people say things like,"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter". I am disheartened because I thought that in America, we were taught to think critically.
When I hear General Petraeus referred to as General Betray Us, I worry for the next generation. Are the people who say these things having children? I hope not. They are behaving like children on the playground. If they are the parents, where are our critical thinkers of the future going to come from?
Can everyone at least make an honest attempt at critical thinking and analysis? I mean this for liberals as well as conservatives. Please THINK. I don't care if you don't agree with me, but at least develop the ability to think and to argue in a manner that demonstrates some degree of intellect!

You are being fed by the media. Rupert Murdoch is amongst the biggest of them all.
Go to Freepress.net and just see what Rupert can eventually control if the FCC allows it to happen.
Anytime you have one person controlling the mainstream media, you have a biased news reporting agenda.
We are told things here while over there, the Iraqi's are told different things. Can you honestly tell me that you know for a fact what is being reported to the Iraqi's is the same thing that is being reported to us here?
When you have the answer to that question, please provide me the link.

Who stands up for these people? More ditto-head misrepresentation.
Liberals and democrats, and an increasing number of conservatives, like myself, just don't see any reason to be in Iraq in the first place. I understand the original American incursion into Afghanistan to root out the terrorists responsible for 9/11, but the US has no right, nor authority, to be the police of the world.
If the Iraqi's wanted democracy so bad, they would have gotten it themselves.
Inflicting democracy at gunpoint has never been the American ideal. As a matter of fact, it rather resembles the Soviet Union's rush to imperialism in the Eastern block

This will go on just long enough for the tide to turn... and then after they win the WH they will admit their mistake and say that we were right... terrorists it is and bring on the fight. A democrat in the White House will also bring back the draft just to prove how "anti-Conservative" they really are.

"Freedom Fighter" is a term that Leftists us to make these guys seem like innocent victims and make the US seem like the badguy.
It is a complete joke to label a bunch of guys that want to establish an oppressive theocratic totalitarian government as "freedom" fighters.

And do they realize how this affects our men and women in the military over there? Do they care? Pelosi just put them in peril with her big mouth.
I believe truly it is because they dislike our president and will do or say anything to make him look bad, even though there is no foundation to support their criticisms..

-do you consider french and Hungarian mercenaries "shipped in" during the American revolution to be freedom fighters?
-American revolution fighters were supplied arms secretly by France
-many "Americans" in 1776 were not British
-Citizens that supported the Crown during the American revolution had their homes burned, were sometimes lynched, had their businesses and assets seized, and were oftentimes denied a trial and treated as war criminals.
do you now understand the relativity of terms and how similar circumstances can be? the fact is, they are either both freedom fighters AND terrorists, or they are neither. its a matter of perspective. if you think the US should be forcing a country to accept a way or form of government on Iraq, and that the war is justified, then they are terrorists. If you think that a British colony that illegally separated itself from its nation and took up arms against their government qualifies as a terrorist, then the founding fathers were also as such.
people just use these terms to convey subtly which side they agree with.

i find it disheartening when people can't discern when someone is playing devils advocate. kitten s...."critical thinking" is by definition re-examining ideas and contexts, in an attempt to understand new comparisons and contrasts. you seem to think it means knowing that this or that is absolutely true or not. that view does not reflect reality or life. your blatant attempt to employ emotion will never fool a person actually capable of critical thinking. it is in fact no argument at all, only a thinly disguised appeal to emotion.
