Sounds like a very good deal to me.
And about software: if you have Windoze based programs you still need to run, you'll do it with BootCamp or Parallels.
No problems!

There are no disadvantages with Macs. £450 for a MacBook Pro is an excellent deal. In fact, it's too good to be true. Definitely go for it but make sure it's not damaged in anyway.

The disadvantage (so far) is that "popular demand" dictates that most software is written for PCs. As I see it, somebody, some "body of folks" must begin "taking the leap" and get on board the Apple bandwagon, before the software world will come around to making software for Macs, and until then, Mac users will have to tolerate some shortage of software, some shortage of sympathy. I'm a PC user, planning to switch to Mac next spring. Go for it. I'll join you soon.

The only disadvantages are is you only have Windows based software you'll need to buy new software.
I'm not sure what the conversion of pounds to dollars is, but if you know your friend hasn't abused it I think it would be a good deal. They're great computers that are extremely stable, never crash, never get viruses, and are incredibly easy to use.

it sounds like it's a newer model, and that's a good price.
if you get a copy of windows, you can run it on that mac (if it has an intel processor, which i think that one does), and then you can run all windows programs as well as mac programs.
macs rule, they really do.
ferrari sells fewer cars than ford does, but they are much better machines.

The main disadvantage is uusally obnoxious mac users. Getting software for the mac is always more expensive. If you need any repairs done then you get to meet your local mac repair guys, also usually in need of an attitude adjustment.
