It reminds people how weak and clueless and WRONG the Democrats are on matters of national security.

And it also reminds voters that many prominent Democrats appear to WANT us to lose.

Yes, it's sick how they feel.

I think it's more skepticism than 'unwelcome' news. I think that both sides of the spectrum WANT success and want our troops safe and sound. I don't think that is even up for debate. I think liberals are skeptical...and rightly so. Look...we had 'mission accomplished' with Bush in full gear...we've heard we're 'making progress' for five years while the bloodshed just seems to grow. It's not that it's unwelcome news....it's skepticism....and appropriately so. I'm surprised that people on the right aren't equally sceptical of any claims by this administration regarding victory or success. Also, it's sort of seems like the administration points to a success while 10 other things are failing and falling down around them. We are all for success, but not for sunshine being blown up our collective butts when it really seems like storm clouds.

Man...I wish that all folks on this site could understand that we all want the same thing (those on the left and right). We want our troops safe, we want Iraq to be stable, we want the best for our country. We just disagree about the way there. Let's try to get real in Y!A political section and stop the decisiveness and ridiculous claims and name calling that is tearing apart our wonderful country and start looking for solutions and common ground.

Sigh....

They can't take credit for it. They're doing everything they can to stand in the way of success, because getting and keeping political power is all they care about. They are so against the war but all they have to do is vote to stop funding it. They won't do that because they know the political damage that will result. So they resort to back door ways to block the effort to win, such as this recent push for this 'genocide' declaration, something that's already been done at least twice in the past, knowing it will piss off Turkey and hamper the war effort.

The dirty little secret is that if the Democrats take the White House and control the Congress, they won't pull out of Iraq like they claim they will. Because then THEY will be the ones who own the defeat. They'll do their best to blame everything on Bush, though.

Whoever told you this was lying to you.

What you fail to understand is that opponents of the war are against mass murder; unlike you, we don't think it's a good thing.

I don't know what "success" you're talking about. We've murdered over a million people, made tens of millions homeless, and torture and raped tens of thousands.

We've destroyed a country.

Unlike you, I think those are bad things.

You may think killing and making everyone miserable is good. You're wrong.

Success at what cost? I can't speak for others, but in my personal opinion, it is because any success will be short lived and will just extend the amount of time that our troops are being used for target practice. The Iraqi govt has still done nothing, which makes any success inconsequential.

Because it shows that the defeatist have been lying all along for political gain and thats also why the liberal media refuses to acknowledge the same.

Of what success do you speak?

How easy it is to say Dems are weak on National Security and totally ignore the fact that Bush has INCREASED terrorism with his illegal, horrible war.

sucess has been touted by your party for the last 7 years and we are no closer to it than we were when BUSH stuck his foot in his mouth for the 10000Th time "mission accomphished"

unless of course, you count sucess as having most of the world hate us due to Bush's policies

Because the whole premise of the invasion was/is flawed.

What can truly be said of a success that was in fact based on a pack of lies?
