Is this a state to state issue? If so, how would your state handle it?

heh, YES you can enter every military service under the U.S. flag at 17, if a guardian signs for you.

Actually a minor entering the service is considered emancipated.

I wasn't even aware minors could enter the service. Although I'd probably say that david is right. There would have to be special circumstances such as emancipation in which case a person is not technically a minor. (by age, but not by law).

You cannot enter the service until age 18, but if it were to happen, yes. I tried to enter when 19 and was denied because of a heart condition. I got married and was also denied credit. When I wrote to the Houston Press, I was told that "anyone stupid enough to get married at that age shouldnt be given credit"/ My question is> If we are able to give our lives for our country at age 18, why cant we enrich our lives and receive the same respect?

Not actually emancipated, my son was 17 when he joined and I signed him in as an adult for Army purposes ONLY. The recruiter made that clear.
