First is whoever as it is the subject of the phrase 'whoever was competing against her' despite following the preposition 'of'.

Second is whomever, as object of 'whomever he met' ('he' is the subject)

Third is whoever, for reasons similar to the first one.

Whomever for both of them. They are the object of a preposition in each sentence. You need an objective pronoun. Whomever is objective.

Whoever is nominative and can be used as the subject of a sentence or as a predicate nominative.
