I asked a gay friend this and it just confused me further. He said that from his earliest childhood memories he had what he now recognizes as sexual tendacies towards other men. However, no in his thirties and still a gay male, he says that homesexuality is more a youth thing to him and he wants to, at some point, marry a woman and have a family. I had no idea what to think before that conversation and was even more confused afterwards.

Like all the rest of the answers here, No one knows for sure,
neither do I. But one would think it is a born hormone defect,
since we all have both female/male hormones.
I have a niece17 years younger then me, the signs were there when she was 6 years old she wanted to be a boy. A
young boy who grew up across the road from us the signs were there he was gay as a child. I can't feel it is a choice,
But I do think in SOME CASES it is fueled in single parent homes, as my niece was mainly raised by her father, the boy
I spoke of was raised by a mother only. My opinions are just
that only opinions as to what I viewed of these two people.
I think gay bashing is very cruel, Altho I believe in traditional
marriage, Others should have a different avenue of a civil union. Blessings
P.S. No, I don't know, "How you feel about that."

I think it's genetic, because many times children will exhibit sexual preference from an early age without even knowing it through their behaviors.
It is a sticky subject, because there are cases of identical twins where one is gay and the other is not.
Whatever it turns out to be, you should be proud of yourself no matter what.

it is a choice dut to the fact that a straight man can have children where as a gay man will not thus a son of a gay man can choose to be gay the genes do not play a part here.

It has been medically proven that men who are gay are born that way. It's not genetic - that means it's not hereditary. They're born that way. Women, on the other hand, usually choose to live that lifestyle.

I think it's genetic and a choice. You may be born gay but you don't have to act on it. Just like people are born with addiction problems but it doesn't mean they have to act on them. They still have their own minds.

It's definitely a choice. Most things in life are choices. I am strongly against this choice, but it is definitely a choice. People can choose who to love and who to hate. And frequently do.

I have a feeling it has something to do with genetics but I am not confident in that answer.
I am gay but as far as I know my parents aren't.

I was born gay and I know it.
Might be genetic, as I've had my opinions about some of my male family members on my Dad's side, and yeah.
