This greatly depends on where you live and what you intend to plant. For cool season lawns in much of the US, I prefer fall planting, just before the rainy season starts -- the soil is at a good temperature for germination, the fall days are cool enough that transpiration is fairly minimal, and the humidity is often high.

On the other hand, some warm season grasses prefer to germinate in coolish soil temps, then really start growing when things warm up -- late winter or spring can be a better choice there.

If you have an extension service in your area, they can give you better suggestions for your area.

you're fertilizing too frequently, or putting too a lot on, or no longer watering it in sufficient. We water 1/2-hour in conserving with section or perhaps if that is totally warm we water 40 minutes in conserving with section. Water is the biggest element for grass. For the subsequent 2 years, in basic terms fertilize contained in the spring and enable your grass get better. Then pass back to spring and winterizing. decrease your backyard about 3" extreme and decrease it once a week on a similar day.

We live in northern WI, where the growing season is very short so we planted grass seed when the snow left (late April - early May) and now in the fall. Mainly when we get the most rain so the roots are able to get established before winter. And don't forget to use fertilizer it really helps, Scotts is the best. Our yard looks great. Good luck.

I personally enjoy putting grass all over my home just about every day of the year but then, I live in a barn and have to feed my animals. For you, probably spring would be best but make sure you put plenty of dirt on your home first so the grass has something to sink it's roots into!

Fall or spring, both work wel! But put your prass seed in the freezer for 3 days before using it> This puts it to sleep,(winter hibernation), and when put it down, it starts thawin, sticking and wakes up(just like spring)!!
