I use to date a guy and then when we broke up he started stalking me, he even burnt down my apartment out of his anger. I am still scared of that guy to this day. I also found out recently that he is a convicted sex offender too. Pretty scary, you never know

When I was caught under the pounding surf off a normally benign beach.

I was body surfing at a favorite spot. I caught the wave just a fraction too late, and, instead of gliding along the face of it, I was lifted up and then tumbled over the top. This was not particularly unusual, or even risky. It's just that the surf held me under much longer than I had previously experienced. I suspect that I had begun to panic sooner than was necessary, because I knew that I was being tossed in the direction of a huge, jagged rock, jutting out into the ocean. I knew I was out of oxygen reserves and felt darkness closing in.

It was the only time that I thought I might die.

I didn't.

Nor did I hit the rocks. I finally surfaced and waded into shore. I didn't go back in that day, but was out the folowing morning, ALMOST forgetting the previous day's incident.

I've done a LOT of crazy things, including some that really COULD have killed me, (swimming with sharks, climbing towers, sliding down concrete spillways, etc) but none have scared me quite the same way.

I once got caught in the undertow at the beach. I didn't even know what an undertow was at the time, let alone how to get out of one. I literally thought I was going to drown, and turns out, I easily could've.
