The biggest question for seven yrs now, is why do Libs love caribou so much, when research shows caribou actually hang around the Alaskan pipeline because it is warm. Many scientists feel responsible drilling would leave a very small footprint on the frozen wasteland/ wildlife reserve. Caribou don't vote, so what gives? Libs have fought tooth and nail to defeat expanding drilling on the North Shore of Alaska for seven years, even though only a handful of Americans will ever travel there to see it. I recommend every lib or conservative to travel to Alaska, see how wonderful the natural setting is and how huge the state is, and how little of an impact dilling responsibly will have. Tens of thousands of high paying jobs would be created. The amount of oil on the North Shore isn't enough to cut off foreign oil, but green technology, hybrid automobiles and ethanol together could make a large dent into the problem.
Wait isn't the real issue that it is much easier to protect the caribou by forcing our government to buy oil from hostile regions and put our brave men and women in harms way? Of course that is easier because you can BLAME BUSH & REPUBLICANS for everything come election time.

OK by me. I think we need to explore more options in alternative fuels, bio-diesel, wind, solar, wave etc.. Our dependance on foreign oil is self inflicted. We need the government to supply or demand the required infastrucure. Look how fast fibre optics and cell phone networks were put up. This is a great country that can do great things, all we need is the leadership, the will, and our nose pointed in the right direction.
Vive America!!

LOL unless you owned 100's of thousands of shares you'd be shooting yourself in your foot with this hope as it would destroy the world economy

You do realize that there is not nearly enough oil in the diminishing American oil reserves to fuel that nation.

As a side note what good would come of collapsing large portions of the agricultural and manufacturing sector that could no longer afford to operate with soaring fuel prices?

I believe you do need to understand the impact of your sweeping accusations and suggestions before you make them.

it rather is because of the fact the quantity of corn had to offer the quantity of ethanol required by ability of our u . s . a . is astronomically great than what's needed in Brazil. the technique is costly, and refineries are not geared up to cope with the great activity required. it form of feels uncomplicated on the exterior, yet we've a complicated activity generating foodstuff 3 hundred and sixty 5 days to 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. for the time of situations of draught or unfavorable corn crop, the fee of ethanol will flow up too. i do no longer think of that they are in cohoots with the politicians, i think of they only comprehend the scope of a transformation of this fee.

Wouldn't it be worth it to defund the terrorists and create more 'green collar jobs' in the billion dollar green industry market by stopping our reliance on petroleum?

America has enough oil to last for decades without importing a single drop. The problem is there are laws that block drilling off of the west coast and in areas of the Gulf of Mexico where there are huge oil reserves.

The asker of the following question researched my answer and proved my answer to be true. He included links.
" Is it true that without imports, the USA's domestic oil reserves would be exhausted in three years? "
