I purchased a knee length, wool, chocolate brown skirt. I want to wear it but I am self concious because my legs arent tan (I cant get one either - just burn). I want to wear pantyhose with it, but I am unsure of what color. I think darker brown would be nice because of the Fall season, but should I avoid that much brown? I don't want to look like an old lady (I'm 20) by wearing too much brown, but I don't want to go bare-legged eitehr. What should I do?
Ps- NO leggings.. I hate those, haha.

I'm wearing mid-calf brown heeled boots and havent decided on the top yet... either a cream sweater, or a cream knit top.

I say a very sheer suntan pantyhose!

Well...this depends upon a couple of factors:

(1) What else are you wearing this skirt with? Like, what is the ensemble? Shoes?

(2) Where are you wearing this? Like, casual, business, etc.?

A darker brown is OK; in fact, you might consider something with a faint texture, like ribbing, etc. Some alternative options you might think about are patterns that have some brown in it (argyle?), or that can coordinate the colors of the skirt with whatever you are pairing with the skirt. Or you can go with an opaque cream pantyhose. Again, this depends on the answers to the questions above.

Nude stockings w/ a blouse in neutral or bright colors & black w/ a black top & deep colors.

BTW, since the weather is getting cooler consider tights that match your top. For example, if you wear the chocolate brown skirt w/ a burgundy shirt or turtleneck, try burgundy tights w/ knee high boots. This will help create a continuous vertical line & make you look taller.

I would avoid brown, it seems a little heavy. Since you are wearing a cream top, try thinner (semi-opaque) cream tights, textured if with sweater, smooth if with blouse. Or if you want pantyhose go for a color just darker than your skin tone, but since you are wearing tall boots avoid shiny pantyhose. (leave those for dresses and strappy heels ;)

FYI Hue makes some great semi-opaque tights.

actually I would probably go with tights and not pantyhose instead. They are making some really fun patterns this year. That are very in. all the fashion mags like In Style are showing textured tights more right now.

but if you are dead set on panty hose either a nude that closely matches your skin, or an off black color. not jet black. I know that hanes silk reflections makes on called off black or something. it is not as stark as black, but not brown either.

Please don't wear white or offwhite...only old fashion nurses or old ladies wear that.

Hanes Alive or Silk Reflections in South Pacific for dark tan or Barely There for light tan. Great with boots.

darker brown sounds nice or maybe another fall color like burgundy could be cute. I think the bare leg trailer trash look is going out of style so go for it you will look very fashion forward!

I think an off white would look best. Also depends on what top you are wearing and shoes. But i wouldnt do brown, that would be too much im afraid.
