It's a play on words!.... Basically it is a general rule of thumb that any medicine that is actually good for you tastes like crap!!

So the term 'A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down' is trying to say that if you sweeten it up a little then it wont make you wretch and heave to the point of vomiting!!!

Regards

C

Studies have shown that giving a child a sucker to eat before/during an injection results in less stress for the child, which I would assume means less stress for the adult, too.

Another trick to swallowing a pill is to place the pill in your mouth, take in a mouthfull of water, then bend your head down and swallow. This will float the pill to the top of your mouth making it first to go down your throat with plenty of water to follow.

yeah because you dot think about the medicine anymore you just think about trying to find something to drink because you have sugar granules all over your mouth and in your teeth and under your tongue and between your lips and gums, its really gross and feels like sand to me.... if its a pill just put it in some cheese and eat it or if its syrup or liquid drink it and before you take a breathe immediately drink a lot of your favorite drink with flavor!!

One spoonful is guaranteed to stop hiccups.
Mix sugar with some meds, and you'll lose your lunch.
That's a guarantee also.

Gets really messy with injections.

The worst stuff I take is quinine sulfate. Speed is the only thing that works with it, foul tasting stuff.
