So, why can't gay people adopt children and raise straight children?

Its like being able to have a boy or girl child, the same is true with gay and straight. We have not been able to pinpoint what causes the orientation of a person.

Why do straight people have straight children? Why do people have personalities? It is not known what makes a person gay, but we do know that it cannot be prevented, except by a life of abstinence(monks/priests). However you can choose not to act on these homosexual impulses, but it is extremely difficult, as is a straight guy to start liking men. Studies also show that boys with older brothers are more likely to become gay. Possibly this is because they have infatuated themselves with becoming like their older brothers that they actually develop a sexual desire for men. This is not a proven fact but it is a plausible hypothesis. Also not that first-borns also have the propensity to be gay as well. As humans continue to explore and learn about the Earth, this and many other questions will be solved. But for now, it is how it is and there is no way to "turn" someone gay, or straight without their consent. They may say they will, but they have to make the decision consciously AND subconsciously, meaning they can lie and act, but they may still stay the way they are.

Well, I don't think it's because they've planned it that way. Some people are born gay. Some not. It's just part of the large kaleidoscope called life. Though on a much more metaphysical level, some may believe that the parents of gay children have been dealt their hand for a reason, that there is a purpose behind saddling a couple with a child(or children) who will more than likely be discriminated against and marginalized by society.

I, personally, think it's simply a fluke of nature. No rhyme or reason to it; it just happens.

I'm a lesbian who has a biological son who is a straight s they come. I also know it to be quite factual that many gay and lesbians do adopt , when allowed and also parent heterosexual children, and some do a much better job at it than some straight people. Look at some of the reasons that these children are in adoptive situations in the first place.

Gay people do adopt and raise straight children, as well as gay children, whatever they turn out to be. There's no evidence that the orientation of the parents has any effect on the orientation of the children, natural or adopted.

We don't really know- some might agree that its in genes, some may not.

I'm a gay man from straight parents- I don't know why. All I know is I didn't choose to be gay.

Oh, and gay people do raise children. I adopted two daughters and am raising them. They are 5 and 2 though, so I have no idea what their sexual orientation with be. And honestly, I don't care!

Same reason gay people have straight children.

Same reason why right handed people have left handed children. WE DON'T KNOW...nor does it really matter.

Gays have children too...like straights, most of our children are straight as well!
