In your opinion, do you think that the government have the right to control drugs?

im unsure.

I think that in a way, we should have the rights to put whatever we want into our bodies.

But then legalisation of all drugs could cause disasterous consequences.

Let me know what you think.

i also agree that pot should 100% be legalised.

People say that children would be able to get hold of them.

i know for a fact that anyone anywhere can get hold of whatever drugs they want, its all about the people you know.

I have only thought about this, im not saying it should be one way or the other.

another thing, i know that if Pot was legalised then it would be taxed, and that would piss me off hard. But is it better us being allowed to buy it then for it to be taxed?

its your life. so maybe you do think you have the right to put whatever you want in your body. but you don't have the right to get high take a drive and plow into a car full of tiny children and kill a whole family. you don't have the right to physically emotionally or mentally harm/kill some one. and when drugs can make you someone your not. potentially getting to do those kinds of things. you don't have any right to put them into your body.

that's my opinion.

In a perfect society all drugs should be legalized. but we live in a society full of some very dump people. When any drug is all of a sudden legalized there will be a backlash of idiots who will go buy a bunch and get way ****** up, knowing nothing about what they're about to do.

So the public must be informed about something before it's legalized, so that most people will have a general understanding of the power of certain drugs. I think people mostly see pot as something not so bad now, so it should be legalized soon. But when people think about something like LSD, all that goes through their head are images of insanity and other chaotic stuff. But I think LSD can be one of the most beneficial experiences of anyone's life. It definitely was for me. Drugs are experience, and no matter how much you read about them, you can't know what they're like till you have had the experience for yourself.

NO! I do not think drugs should be legalized. Yes, we have a right to put anything into our bodies, but when others are affected, that creates the problem. Think of all the innocent people killed by drivers under the influence of drugs. Think about children and other people hurt or killed by those under the influence of drugs. Do you think this is right? Kids giving up all their hopes and dreams and destroying their brains because of drugs. Do you think this is a good thing? Parents sell everything they have for drugs and leave their children without food to eat, clothes to wear or a place to stay. Is that right to you? What about druggies who lose everything they had because of their addiction. Do you not think this is a problem? See how what you put into your body can affect everyone else? The thing people fail to realize about drugs is how they affect the brain. Drugs will leave you craving for more and you will begin to do ANYTHING for them. What I have just described is only a fraction of what happens because of drugs. Nothing good comes from using drugs. We have enough problems here in America. The last thing we need is to legalize drugs!

Any time you make something illegal...you increase it's street value.

Drug dealers sell illegal drugs to make money. A strong argument could be made to legalize drugs in an effort to reduce the street value and allow better control over availability.

For example...if "crack" were legal...it would no longer be sold on the streets or pushed onto children...because there would be no money in it for the dealers. The dealers would have to find a new source of income because crack would be worthless.... like peddling asprin outside of a convenient store.

If the government legalised drugs, then they would soon put such high taxes on them that they would become more expensive. And so all the new addicts would probably rob and kill more of us to pay for their next fix.

Of course not! That would invite social chaos and the quality of our lives is already disrupted by unethical, ill-mannered people as it is. Society needs to keep order, and the best way to do that is with sound, educated minds. Self discipline and accountability are hallmarks of maturity. Let's not undermine that with recreational drugs. The police have enough on their plate...

I think drugs should be held to same standard as alcohol. If you use it and don't do anything to harm anyone else or put their safety in jeopardy, then fine, who cares? But, if you use and then get behind the wheel of a car, cause an accident, and someone dies because of it, that should be vehicular homicide and you get a nice long stay in prison.

But when you put something in your body, and it causes you to hurt someone else, or even accidentally kill someone, who's fault would that be then? The government is there to protect us, even if it is from each other.
The addictions, they would run wild. People would not work, they would still, kill and do whatever it took to get their next "fix"

Ruining your body is your business but if people used the drugs then they would probably hurt others too, their families (child abuse, neglect), ruin their finances, get addicted, drive intoxicated. The government has a right to help us protect ourselves, our families and our communities (this is why we have other organizations like OHSA). It's a tricky situation, though I am in favor of legalizing marijuana (and no, I do not smoke it).

What an idiotic idea. Have you ever seen what drugs do to people and their families and loved ones, not to mention the unnecessary waste of hospital time and the crime they cause? In my opinion drug pushers should get life imprisonment because of all the peripheral crime they cause by addicts needing their 'fix' and committing all kinds of crime to pay for it. Also have you never realised just how violent these people are. Anyone with any sense stays well clear of any type of drug or illegal substance.

Remember. Drugs are for losers.
