Whats the longest gap you can find between two movies that are full sequels to one another? Not spin offs or remakes.

The biggest gap I can think of is the Alfred Hitchcock thriller PSYCHO. It was released in 1960. PSYCHO 2 the sequel to it wasn't released until 1983 and both starred Anthony Perkins. That's a difference of 23 years.

Indiana Jones 4? its been 18 years since The Last Crusade and will be nearly 20 by the time it comes out.

Before that I think it was the gap between the Alien and Aliens.

However, since I await with bated breathe for IJ4..I don't care how long its been !!

EDIT : The Indiana Jones movies are sequels, because they do not continue telling the same story. They could be called a series, but what the hell is the difference between a series and sequels?

I think the rush hour movies went a little long between films. Rush Hour 3 (2007) Rush Hour 2 (2001) Rush Hour (1998)

More then 3 years for any movie and it just loses its luster and appeal. Rush hour was ok for the 2nd film but then 6 years till the 3rd is a little too much. By then interest in the movie is lost.

Indian Jones is totally different. The original movies are classics and have a huge following. People want this movie to come out and to them it’s better late then never.

I would have to say it depends on the sequel. The time span between Gone With The Wind and Scarlett is 55 years. (That's for the movie, not the books.) I think it was worth the wait.

Bambi 1942
Bambi II 2006

64 years

There is a Snow white movie (original 1938) that was made in 2002, but it was made by Hallmark, so I don't think it counts.
