if everytime i test i get a negative? i tested on the night of cycle day 29 and the morning of cycle day 34 and both were negative so i tried to set an appointment up for the o.b.g.y.n. and their like were only taking patients for the o.b. no new patients for the g.y.n. then they asked did you take a hpt i said yes it was negative but i missed a period and the receptionist is like your not pregnant but my older sisters friend was pregnant and had her baby this past jan. and she kept saying she was pregnant but it never came up on a urine test even at the doctors and then she got a blood test at like 5/6 months and she was having a baby girl, so i want to find out if i am before then. i've never ever missed a period before they always come heavy and full blown and how can i convince doctors if they say i have to be before i come? i have to have proof? and IM NOT UNDER ANY STRESS and when i was they still came but early, please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Wow that last person to answer was certainly a little rude....

You definitely CAN get a negative pregnancy test and still be pregnant. They are not fool-proof. If I were you, I would be concerned too - you want to start your pregnancy on the right foot. I don't know what that woman's problem is. In your early 20's, it's not normal to just skip a period like that without there being a reason.

I would find another doctor to go to. It doesn't necessarily have to be an oby/gyn but I'm sure there is another oby/gyn in the area. Or, if you are set on that doctor, you can also call that doctor back and demand an appointment. The receptionist has no right to diagnose pregnancy over the phone and refuse to make an appointment for you. She's just a receptionist.

Go to your General Practitioner and ask him to give you a blood test. Pregnancy will surely show up in that. Also if you can get him to refer you for an u/s that will be great ...only thing is you need to wait for sometime (6-7 weeks from LMP) for something to show up there.
Also change your current Ob-gyn. The people there dont seem helpful they should have directed you to your GP instead of deciding over phone whether u are pregnant or not.

Call around and try to find another doctor. I know there are more dr's on your medical plan. If not go to a planned parenthood or clinic. Worse case scenerio...you can't find one......I usually don't say to lie, but if you are truely worried tell them you tested positive on a home test and get the appt. The dr. will be the same either way. They are OB/GYN's. They have more openings on the OB side of the dr.'s calender because pregnant patients need more appts. and honestly pay more because he is guar.(usually) 6-9 months worth of appts. and treatment.

You can go to a general practitioner and get a blood test done to determine if you are pregnant. That is a very accurate way to find out. I had several negative EPT tests, but the blood test came up positive. If you have a positive blood test them call the OB office back and let them know, they will then see you. Good luck.

You can try and go to a free clinic, your regular doctor for another reason, or the ER (depending on the cost your insurance will make you pay). They will do the blood test there and then you'll know for sure. I would wait to do these things until you are at least 2 weeks late on your period and you have a reason to go to the doctor's or ER.

You've never missed a period before? Guess what. This is the first time. It happens as you get older.

The chances that you will test negative even if you are pregnant are low. If you plan to have some medication or medical test (such as something with dye), then you can ask them to test or do an ultrasound. Otherwise, it really isn't an issue and I don't understand your urgency.

You could call another OB that is taking new patients. You could also go to a clinic. Once you confirm the pregnancy you should be able to get in to see the OB you want.

go to your regular physician. they can do a blood test just as easily as your gynecologist can. and if next month you still have not gotten your period (and the hpt is negative) you can go back to your regular doctor and see if they'll do an ultrasound to be sure.

You need to call again the OB/GYN and demand an appointment. It is not up to the reception to tell you what to do. Good luck!
