How come the SEC acts like their the only area of America that knows how to play Football?

South Florida beat #17 Auburn in their home stadium.

Cal ran a track meet against the UT Vols.

Look I'm not saying the SEC isn't good just stop being so arrogant. Remember the Sugar Bowl when Georgia showed up acting like WVU was just going to allow themselves to be run over.

If teams like South Florida, Arizona State, Ohio, and B.C. finish undeafeated they have more legitimate claim to the national title then a 1 loss SEC team.

Auburn 2004 sory next time don't play 2 NCAA I-AA teams like the Citidal. Besides USC was robbed in 2003 LSU should have faced them

I know I'll receive a lot of "thumbs down" for this, but hear me out.
I agree with you - the SEC fans think that no matter what happens, no matter how many losses their precious Tigers and Gators may lose this season, both teams deserve a berth in a good BSC bowl game. Why? You might ask. I have no idea.
They argue about the strength of the schedule....perhaps that is a valid point. But other teams are also pitted against tough opponents. Those opponents might not come in the first half of the schedule (take The Ohio State Buckeyes for example), but the challenges do come.
I personally think that the other conferences / teams have certain academic standards that they need to uphold. USC, Stanford, Boston College, Ohio State, Michigan, Cal and even Notre Dame all have extremely tough admissions criteria that need to be met. I argue that many of the players in the SEC could NOT apply and successfully be admitted to these schools. I'm not saying that every SEC player is like this, but I think quite a few are.
At other schools, it is imperative that the players are superstars in the classroom AND on the football field. Not so sure about the SEC and their standards. If that's the only requirement that needs to be met, then of course they can gather up Joe Smoes who do just enough academically to stay eligible and never make it to commencement.

Please...the SEC is repeatedly shunned when the nation gets a chance, from the Heisman when it's clear they've got a better candidate to the title game when they have to play in the toughest league in the country.

Once more for you slow ones out there: THE TOUGHEST LEAGUE IN THE COUNTRY.

For all you Michigan fans from a year ago who wanted to rubber stamp OSU as the top team in the land to the Oklahoma fans who know that they never should've been on the same field as USC in 2004 when Auburn successfully ran the SEC gauntlet including 2 wins over a Tennessee team that manhandled Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl the only leg you get to stand on at all is when you get a Johnny-come-lately to pull a big upset.

I'm all for South Florida running the table not because it would give credence to the Big Least being a tough conference, but because they're only in their 11th year of 1-A football. As for the whole God-given right thing, you folks need to get a life.

The 4 teams you listed are all in trouble with the exception of OSU if LSU bounces back to end up 12-1 after the SEC title game and then OSU is in trouble again because they can't hang with SEC schools...41-14 ring a bell.

Oh yeah...and Cal got the benefit of a turnover and a special teams play. That game is a draw otherwise...

Just look at the difference in competition. Ohio State is ranked #1; the teams they have beat have a total record of 22-25, and three of them are Division 1AA schools! They have only played one Div 1A school that doesn't have a losing record. Impressive!

South Florida has played two decent teams out of seven games.

Boston College hasn't played anybody; the seven teams they have beaten have a combined win total of 19, less than Ohio State.

Arizona St. is undefeated, but has played 2 Div 1AA teams and hasn't played a top 25 team yet. The next four weeks will show if they deserve to be ranked.

Now let's look at the SEC.

LSU has lost 1 game to a top 20 team. They have beat 2 other teams ranked in the top 10 when they played, and beat one other that is currently # 6.

South Carolina has only one loss; to LSU. They have beat two other teams ranked in the top 12 when played.

Kentucky has one loss, to # 7 South Carolina. They have beat # 1 and # 9.

Some think it is OK to win the National Championship by avoiding any real competition and having a perfect record; that's why Bobby Bowden joined the ACC instead of the SEC. He said so on national TV.

To be the best you have to beat the best. No one but the SEC schools have done that.

No. Florida will upset Alabama in the SEC Championship Game ending their 26 game winning streak and knocking the Tide out of the National Championship Game. Florida, having already lost to Alabama earlier in the year won't be there either.

Ya know, if they enact a playoff system, all of this chest thumping goes away. Every one is proud of their team and conference and does everything they can to defend their turf. It's only natural.

It is possible that Ohio State or USF can finish undefeated. If they do, they'll deserve a chance to play a game that will again question the legitimacy of the present system. They are both good teams. But I think there is more than one SEC team that could embarrass them in front of a national audience. Just remember Notre Dame and OSU's losses last year.

Not trying to stir any feathers...........just being real.
The Big East is not a tough conference.
And Cal (a good team) lost last week to an unranked team.

I'll tell you why a one loss SEC school should be in the BCS championship game....Yesterday on ESPN Radio, one of there sports personalities said " If you put an undefeted team like Hawaii in the SEC, they are 5-7 at best"...S.Florida is good but they play only 2 good teams a year (I'm not convinced Auburn is good this year), Ohio state is the same way they play who...Wisconsin (The Citidel put up 35pts on), Penn St. (lost to ND), Michigan (App St. need i say more)...Thats why you put a one loss SEC school in the BCS championship game, because that SEC schedule is grueling week in and week out....

We dont feel we have a god-given right to play in the championship game. We just feel its BS that while teams like Ohio St. play and USC play, at best, questionably good teams, and the media sucks up to them the whole time, we get teams like Florida, LSU, Kentucky, S. Carolina, who all have to play each other. Please, tell me what team you think can play 3 of those four (in Florida's case, how about LSU, Kentucky, Georgia and S.Carolina, all almost in a row, and all away games) and remain undefeated. It is far easier for a team in the PAC-10 or Big 10 or Big 12 to go undefeated than for ANY team in the SEC

The key part of your last statement is IF and I absolutely agree, especially in the cases of South Florida and Ohio State.

You go undefeated, you win your league, you deserve the right to play in the National Championship.

The SEC is the deepest conference, I think, but we as fans shouldn't go on a rampage if our champion isn't in the title game.

(Except for Auburn in 2004, who got absolutely hosed).

I'd have to disagree with you on that one. Those teams do not play in a tough conference. You mean to tell me that if you put any one of those teams in the SEC that they would run the table? You must be out of your mind if you say yes. Those are just 2 games. But to play those teams week after week is grueling. Even LSU, the best team in the country suffered a loss. I'm not saying that the SEC is the only place where football is played. All I'm saying is that they have best conference from top to bottom.

If SEC teams played non conference games with the heart and style of play they played non-conference games, you'd understand.

To go undefeated in the SEC or even just have 1 loss in the SEC is a feat unto itself.

No one outside the SEC understands this.

Which is why I feel that the SEC champion should play the BCS champion.
