Uhm and Glen have it, in fact Glen either thinks the way I do, or has read my previous answers lol. Worcester Bosch and Vaillant are rated most reliable and best quality, also most expensive, Baxi, potterton (which currently hold most efficient title, is owned by Baxi), Ideal, Glow worm (owned by Vaillant), are middle quality/ If you use an installer who is approved by a manufacturer you usually are ensured of a good guarantee, and they will be well acquainted with the correct commissioning and installation procedure to meet the guarantee criteria, you do also (for safety and efficiency) need a boiler with temperature control on the hot water. Costs are dependent on area, and work, but combi for combi about £2100, combi for conventional (if you have tanks), about £2700, with five years guarantee and a Magnaclean or boiler buddy unit installed, if you have no thermostats on your radiators, they will be extra and depend on make, I would recommend Peglar Terrier.

There are allot of good boilers available now. The main thing to look for is a condensing boiler. These reuse the flu gasses reducing pollution and reduces your gas bill considerably. I'm an apprentice gas fitter, i have just got a new boiler. It is a Baxi 105 HE, It is extremely efficient.

Vaillant or Worcester, these will be the best on the market. Make sure you get ones with hot water temperature adjustment.
