When a casual aquaintence makes an innocent comment at a party that is really insulting and offensive to you and your feelings are deeply hurt. Do you just over look it and let it slide? Or do you speak up and take the chance of starting an argument? I am half Native American Indian on my mother's side and proud of it. I am not a savage, blood thirsty, redskin bas_ard!

Dust; The white settlers took the red man's homeland and put a bounty on red man.. That is where the red man learned the art scalping. If someone tried to forcefully take your home, would you fight? or give it to them?

Forgot to point out that the red man's scalp was taken as proof to collect the bounty.

My sister people will say things in life because they dont think before they speak and act. I am American Indian and have heard and seen many negative things come from different people. How they think of Indians is their opinion and we as a people must not let these things get us down or hurt our feelings. The ignorance of others is what tells us what people do and have learned over many moons some have learned nothing and others have opened their mind to knowledge. We are not savages just simple Spiritual people that have been given a bad name from television. If we speak to others with repect and knowledge then we can help change things and teach people the truth of the Indians. We did what we did because the white man slaughtered and murdered our people and we were taught to forgive but we had, had enough of watching our old ones and women and children killed for no reason . As long as we lived as a people we were a threat to them and what they wanted land and power over all people. We tried to live in peace with the white man and they chose to break every treaty there was and kill our people. Watch the CD collection 500 nations and this will tell you all what really happened to the Indians and the true stories.

let it go, life is too short to get hung up on the small stuff. see now yo know what kind of person he or she is and you never have to be around that person. Why argue there are plenty of people out there that have different opinions about race and culture "are you going to argue with all of them"

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing. Bigotry is a terrible evil. If someone is being offensive, then you should call them on it.

I don't let things really offend me, and my feelings do not get deeply hurt.

Maybe it hurts that person's feelings that you're proud of being from a group of people who tried to slaughter innocent settlers fleeing religious persecution. Maybe you shouldn't be so self centered.
