I applied for Pimp My Ride.com about a year ago, and I got an email from them this morning and it says:

Congratulations Renee!! You're application has been reviewed and you have been selected!! Please follow the link provided with details on how to complete your application process and Get Pimped!

http://www.pimpmyride.com/finalistapplication.html

NOTE: If you do not follow through the final application process your spot will be given to the next most qualified applicant. Due to the large volume of requests we require a small application/processing fee.

There is a $19.99 fee. Should I do it?

I receive the same email,so it should be a fake. I did my request at the begginning of the year..On the site does not say nothing about the TV show, cause it's not for that. When i apply they said they choose cars from the people that apply and pimp them. The cars i mean.:)
It will be nice to be true, but since i'm not the only one,it must be fake. After some searches i found this article. So this site is a fake

A friend of mine online saw an advertisement for PimpMyRide.com about 6 months ago. He went to the website and found a place to sign up and apply to get his car “pimped”. After about 6 months he received the following email:

Subject: Congratulations! You’ve been selected from PimpMyRide.com

Congratulations!! You’re application has been reviewed and you have been selected!!

He was excited at the mere possibility of having his car customized by the popular MTV television show. He forwarded the email to me and asked if I thought it was legitimate. When I read the email and saw that they were asking for an “application/processing fee”, it got me pretty suspicious. I checked around and apparently several people have been duped into sending money to them, in hopes of having their car fixed up and being on the MTV show. I came across a post on the consumer blog at ABC13.com titled “Houston woman finds Pimp My Ride web site has nothing to do with MTV” which can be found here.

The report explains how the PimpMyRide.com website actually works. The website is run by a company which is based out of the Caribbean island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The website also admits that it is in no way affiliated with MTV and claims the application/processing fee just makes the person eligible to receive discounts on auto parts and accessories.

Who knows how many people have been scammed into sending these people money. Do your friends and family a favor and pass this message on so that these scammers do not continue to make money by misleading unsuspecting people.

They are not, repeat NOT, part of MTV's "Pimp My Ride" or West Coast Customs.

Notice they say NOTHING about the TV show or the company. MTV is carefully not mentioned. They don't use the TV show's "Pimp My Ride" logo.

If a big show was charging entry fees, they'd be able to qualify for a merchant account...this means they would NOT be using PayPal to get you to send money. They'd also have someone checking their email promotional copy, so they'd say "Your application..." instead of the incorrect "You're..."

Sure, you can apply for a ride-pimpin', but you likely won't get it.

Three words:

OH,HELL NO!!!

That's a scam email. You would've gotten a phone call and/or a registered letter from MTV Networks saying as much, not an email begging for a $20 enterance fee. Viacom (MTV's parent company),doesn't work like that. The show is no longer in production. West Coast Customs cut its own deal with TLC for their own series ("Street Customs",now on Thursday nights) after season two.

BTW: A modified and repackaged version ("Pimpeando") currently airs on MTV Tres.

It looks like you applied for your ride to be pimped with this bogus website. Pimp My Ride doesnt even come on television anymore. And besides, if it did, you would have received probably a letter or a call from MTV, not a bogus email. If you have money to give away, then go for it. But, please dont expect your ride to be pimped. They are trying to pimp you out of 20 bucks!

That site is not for the MTV show Pimp My Ride. If you're thinking MTV is going to hook you up, just save your $20.

hmm since they are asking for money I would assume this is not real. Most applicants who are chosen are done so with no fee involved......I am pretty leary on this kinda stuff, is there a way you can get in touch with them and ask them about it? When you filled out the application last year was there any mention of money?

No! Ur going on that show b/c u can't afford to fix up ur car, so y would they ask u for $20??? I would write an e-mail to the show explaining what u received with the link. If it's real, then they will let u know.

Hmmmm.....I don't know about this one. I really think that if they chose you, you should not have to pay anything at all. So...sounds like a scam to me. Instead....why not contact the real Pimp My Ride website and ask them about the email. They will tell you whether or not it's real.
