I'm with you... I don't like documentation of me that others have, that I have not allowed them to have.
I really don't like it when people take pictures of me without permission. What is a picture anyway... and how many people actually like re-living their past.
I'm all about moving forward and the past is the past. Holding on to it is like forgetting who you are. If you constantly need a reminder of who you are, then why don't you make an evaluation of where you are.
Basically, that video is your property (even legally), so it's up to you if yuo want to share it.

I love Vince. He sums it all up. I wish I had videos of my 8th and 12th birthdays,(I'm 15) no matter how silly I looked. Its the reminiscence that counts. You ought not to be asking if what you did was right or good if you know it really was. Would you think it was right if your gran destroyed a video of your 16th birthday when it'd happen because SHE didn't like how you looked? Even if you didn't like the videos, you shouldn't destroy them and spoil the memory for others. I'm a teen too, and I'd never do that. Its fun to be silly sometimes, but at our age things WILL be recorded that you WILL be embarassed about sooner or later, but you need a feel of maturity, and destroying a birthday video is not mature. Or did you do it because of some idiot boy? Because if he can't appreciate your childhood, then he's not worth the bother, no matter how 'in love' you are with him or how 'hot' he is.

Given that you're asking for opinion about your behavior tells me that you knew what you did was wrong. Judging from what you did tells me that you're still the same silly kid on that video.
Rather than showing how much you've grown from that time and that you deserve more respect, you succumb to be that little girl again and hide the video instead.

I think that was very immature and rude to your parents and grandma. What if you had a child and took video of its birthday and then someone took it and broke it? You would be very hurt and mad. You have a lot of growing up to do and someday you are going to look back and regret ever doing that.

i know how you feel.. when i was younger, i hid a tape of me singing! i couldn't stand to watch myself or let anyone else watch it even though that was how i acted in everyday life anyway. nowadays, i really don't care who watches that video, i actually want to see it to see how i looked like and behaved when i was younger.
i think it's a shame you broke one of your videos. when you get older you'll regret it, and you probably won't hate watching yourself as much. 10 years from now, don't you want to see yourself at the age of 8 or 12? you'll get a good laugh out of it.

That was wrong. My x-husband accidentally taped mtv awards over my first childs first christmas and many other milestones. I was very upset one day when I went to watch the tape and it was gone....forever. That video was precious to me and is not replaceable. I can understand you didn't like the way you looked, but that wasn't the way to handle that.

I think you're selfish and childish. They weren't your videos and you can bet that later when you have children you'd love to watch them again. You think it's right because you're self-centered. Let me ask you, if it was right, why'd you hide it? Why not tell your grandma? Is it because you're actions would hurt her?

No. That's wrong. Those aren't videos for you. They're videos for your parents and grandparents. It's not right at all for you to hide them because you're embarrassed.

If someone recorded you doing this, you'd still look silly. Nothing got accomplished.
