Why does the US support Israel when most Americans are anti-Jewish?

1) Most Americans are NOT anti-Jewish
2) Your prejudice shows in your question, if you were of high moral character, you would have asked about Israelis; being Jewish is a religion, not a nationality. There are plenty of non-Jews who live in Israel.
3) For years and years Israel was the only democracy in that part of the world.
4) Without them, who do you think would thwart the majority of terrorist plots, take out nascent nuclear facilities and where would we have friendly bases?
5) Everyone owes the Jews a little after the Holocaust.
6) Their strategic location to oil, commerce, sea ports, etc, etc are vital to us.

And if you need religious reasons, the majority of America is some form of Christian. Whether Catholic, Protestant, Mormon or whatever, Jews were/are the fore bearers. One cannot deny the shared history and kinship. Jesus was a Jew. And if you are Christian, you know that you should still love your brothers even when you have serious disagreements (like over the divinity of Jesus).

Most Americans are NOT anti-Jewish. Like most people I think the majority of the American people (Jewish and Gentile alike) don't like the disproportionate influence the minority zionist block (i.e. the Israeli ultra-nationalists) has on both parties that distorts a lot of the US foreign policy with regards to the Middle East (especially given a large chunk of this nationalist block are fundamentalist Christians, not Jewish)

Most American citizens would rather see less of their tax dollars subsidising the sale of guns to a prosperous country, and I'm fairly sure would rather see their leaders actually being able to do something about the Middle East peace process without worrying whether they'll lose money and votes.

With respec to supporting Israel, the support basically started after the yom kipur war. It maybe because Israel is the lone democracy in the middle east.

Well, if you are a bigot, then maybe in your circles everyone you know is a bigot too, so it seems that most are anti semitic. In truth, most Americans are not anti Semitic. In fact, anti semitism in America is quite low compared to many other countries.

Because the nation of Israel was created by the United Nations and that was under our thumb at the time. We are in part responsible for creating this nation and thus feel a great since of responsibility for it. We don't exactly want to see millions of Jewish people slaughtered again and my guess is that radical Islam would do that in a heartbeat if given the chance.

You could also say we are protecting the Islamic nations around Israel. If things ever got really bad for Israel in military form they'd simply nuke em.

The US supports Israel because if we stopped doing so, they would cease to exist.

That is a sad fact of life. They are surrounded by enemies who hate them JUST because they are Jews.

Of course, Israel has Nukes and WILL use them if we abandon them. This would leave most if not all of the Arab world a glass parking lot. Israel will not go quietly again.

But hey, the fallout from all those nukes will put the world into a nuclear winter and effectively stop global warming so what the heck. it's only a few billion lives that will be lost to satisfy racist bigotry.
