Yes, all the animals that I have ever had were all very loving, they are selfless, and they have never stabbed me in the back.
Anthony, it is true that some animals go berserk. I raise my animals to be very gentle and loving and I think most people do. A lot of animals in the wild are not meant to be tamed and they will do what wild animals do. As far as pit bulls, I am not sure that I would be willing to risk having one for a pet, however I do believe that a lot of people that have pits are for the wrong reasons. They want them for their reputations and they teach them to be tough. I believe that any dog raised with the right teachers can be a good dog. They have to be shown love to know what love is.

Loving unconditionally like a pitbull that kills your child, or how many dogs love you when you get too close to their food bowl.
Maybe a chimpanzee who tears out your eyeball and rips off your thumb, or a bear that eats your face and makes you crawl 4 miles to get to the nearest phone. All true stories of unconditional love.
Edit: An animal that is trained to love or has been tamed through domestication does not possess unconditional love. Their love is based on the condition that they be domesticated and trained to squelch their defenses. Despite whatever Disney says or portrays, the word animal is synonymous with savage and untame for a reason. Bears are not cuddly, Poomba would be a carcass, and thumper sprays Bambi. Anthropomorphism is a fantasy.

Disagreed, animals don't do that and neither do humans. That would be a serious survival flaw.
I do agree that we have much to learn though from them.
Alaina, I've owned a pit before and much of their reputation is sensationalistic media exposure. They have one of the lowest occurrences of bites per dog owned than most breeds...if you factor that in with who owns them its pretty startling. Teh only reason we read about them is the veracity of their attacks when they do "snap."
Oh, and if you have to teach a domesticated dog to love, how would wild animals know this emotion and be able to practice it unconditionally? If love is a learned emotion from humans, wild animals would no be able to posess it.

I agree as well. If only humans were more like animals, maybe this planet wouldn't be in such a heap of trouble.
We, as animal lovers or owners, must be deserving of the unconditional love you mention.
