As a consumer, I'm pro because they have some of the LOWEST prices. If I were out of a job, Walmart is the last place I'd go looking for employment.

I would say yes, Wal-mart is very good for america, PRO! They have low prices, they employ lots of americans and they DON'T employ illegals, they pay billions in taxes to the states, and most of the items they have are of good quality. if someone doesn't like Wal-Mart they can go where the sun don't shine, they don't have to shop there, there are soooo many choices for someone to have, yeah, they may be a little sticky or a little too crowded but that goes to show how busy they are and how many people buy thier items I live in the city where the home office is located, I see all of the good things around the world that they do

Absofriggilutely CON. They get low prices at great expense to the suppliers they deal with. The suppliers have to cheapen their products to meet unsustainable agreements from Walmart, and sometimes they go out of business as a result. Countless local businesses have up and dies because of the Walmarts that have gone up. Depressed wages, discrimination, poor customer experience. I live pretty close to a walmart that I will never set foot in. I go anywhere else and pay more - happily. I dont care to save two dollars one something when its a fair price. You don't save that much to support all the damage Walmart does to the local economy. The local hardware store is a thing of the past, 'big box' sellers are to blame. Those are our neighbors we put out of business to support Walmarts made-in-china, leade filled, wrinkled on the rack, dumbed down plasticized version of what something used to be. Dont get me wrong, big companies aren't bad, unsustainable pricedowns are. Walmart isnt bad because they are everywhere and have alot of stuff, tehy are bad because they expect too much out of their suppliers workers, and take too much market share from the honest joes.
pshew... I wish somebody would ask my how I felt about that.

Walmart is very, very bad not only for America but the world in general.

They literally spend millions of dollars to prevent employees at any one single store from getting enough votes to go union while they allow unions in European countries where they had to because they bought out other stores where the workers already belonged to unions.

They underpay employees while not allowing them to work enough hours to qualify for health insurance and coerce them into working overtime unpaid in the USA.

They outsource production to other countries like China where employees are paid $3.00 USD/DAY, that's three dollars a day, not even hour. They do offer employees the option of living on the warehouse campus if they pay rent and utilities but if the workers live off campus they actually still have to pay rent. In Latin America employees at their factories are paid about 18 cents per hour. In both areas employees are fired if they do not lie to inspectors and say they only work 6 days a week, and have other "favorable" working conditions.

The Waltons are worth something like $10 billion each. Walmart has a charitable program where employees can donate so much of their pay check to help the families of other employees in the event of a disaster (flood, fire, etc...). In one year the employees donated $5 million dollars. The whole Walton family scrounged up a total of $5000. The bulk of their charitable donations are political, at best.

Every single time a new walmart or sam's club store is opened the walmart corp. gets $50,000 to $1,000,000 in subsidies from the city and county to open it. Money that could and should be spent on things like education and health care. Think of that next time you have a bake sale to get your kid's team new equipment or to keep the art or music program in tact.

Consider just how much of those subsidies were your taxes. You do actually pay for their low prices.

Family run stores get no subsidies.

All this and so much more...

Walmart is a cancer. Like any cancer it grew out of perfectly good stock but mutated into something that steals the life from its host. The Waltons, board members, and stock holders have no conscience whatsoever.

I think that walmart is good a pro it gets people what they need at a cheaper or lower price than most stores the con would be that they have to much stuff in their stores and people go crazy and buy things that in reality they don't really need lol.

to many people it's good because it provides many things at a low price, shoot, I bought that RGD bodyspray for 3 bucks and at WallGreens it's $5.49; however, for employees it might not, since they are always complaining about benefits and such things. If you acutally think about it, if you don't like stop working there.

I'm PRO

...well, it's the largest retail corporation on the Planet and employees hundreds of thousands of Americans, so I'd say it's good for America...(not to mention the tax's they pay and the charitable contributions they give...low prices too)
