Of course Christians can celebrate Halloween! I grew up Christian, and Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. It's about having fun! Dressing up like a witch or ghost or vampire or pirate is not evil, nor does it mean you wish to become those things. It's fantasy. It's make believe. It's having a good time! You might consider an old fashioned harvest theme or a certain time period such as the 50's.

I think it's great the church is doing something for the kids on Halloween it's much more safer for the children and can be alot of fun. A really simple theme like angels or something maybe superheros. When we had Halloween parties at my church we just decorated the same as at our house and had a haunted house in one of the church Sunday school rooms as long as the kids know it's really something for them to make Halloween safer and that things that associate with Halloween like devils, witches, and demons etc. we do not worship and celebrate I hope it's really nice for the kids.

If you have to come up with a "Christian theme" then why not just call it a costume party or Harvest party? You make it sound like Halloween needs to be cleaned up or fixed - like Halloween in and of itself is bad. Does giving it a Christian theme then make it ok to celebrate?
Don't put any sort of Halloween anything in it and call it a Fall Festival.......

Repressed sexual tension?
And Tony; Halloween is also All Hallow Eve(n) the night before All Saints Day, which is a Christian holiday. Though it started as a pagan holiday, the catholic church moved their saints day to coincide with Samhain sometime around the ninth century, and it was filtered down into most of the christian divisions after the splits of the church into the various christian denominations.

"PS stop trying to make American Gods out of sacred days to the old ones...this is not a day for those who celebrate resurrection of the dead, it is the HARVEST. a time for reflection."
Um American GODS? There aren't any "American GODS. America is not a theocracy. There are many different faiths in this country who see Divinity in many different ways and use many different names.
Halloween or Samhain as some of us like to call it is a day when the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest. Which makes it a great time to honor our friends and family who have passed on. It's a time to celebrate summer's end which is what Samhain (sowen) means.
Yes it's a sacred Pagan Holiday. And one of the most important in my faith. As long as they are being respectful then let the christians celebrate the harvest.
Christianity has "borrowed" pretty much everything from Paganism anyhow. Without Paganism there wouldn't be a christianity anyhow.

so glad to hear Christians providing entertainment on Halloween. we call it 'harvest night' a fall festival. we still allow them to dress up in costumes, have fun games, give candy, have contests, etc. great and SAFE alternative to letting the kids on the street. i have always let my kids participate in these type of things on halloween, and we are Chrisitan. I just teach them there are better ways to do it. no demonic costumes, usually trick or treat at the church festival or in family sponsored neighborhood. great family time!

I'm a christian too. So if I was to throw a christian halloween party I would maybe give guest's a goody bag that has something like candy and then a christian magnet or bracelet. It's your choice really....
