Not a code word but it is the new word for it. They have to change what they are called frequently. They have had power many times all over the world. They are always failures. People know Marxist, socialist, communist, liberal, and fascist are deservingly negative. I know they are not all the same but they all are similar, based around excessive government control. Because these ideas have been discredited they need to call themselves something else to disconnect themselves from their extensive history. Sometimes they even tag their political failures as conservatives.

It is code word for liberal and socialist. As when Clinton says she is a progressive, she means that she is a liberal socialist. Read the evidence below of her socialist tendencies.

HILLARY'S SPEND-O-METER

If Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) Could Enact All Of Her Campaign Proposals, Taxpayers Would Be Faced With Financing $756 Billion In New Spending Over One White House Term.

Answer: Well...'Could Be!...First used by Democrat Woodrow Wilson...You know him! First World War, Federal Reserve Bank, First ever Tax On American Citizens Income!
His own party got so ashamed of the progressive title they changed it to "liberal"...Now that they have tarnished that title they hope over time ...and poor government education that America will forget their roots and exactly the damage that they intend to do to America's citizens.

Yup. Progressive sounds so, well progressive but Marxist has its connotation that the masses will not accept. Interesting how easily fooled some are though as we take baby (and sometimes not so baby) steps toward complete socialism which violates the powers granted to the federal government in the Constitution
We all care about the less fortunate, thinking tha government is the solution is where we differ. The evidence is in and it is clear that forcing people to be dependent upon the government is NOT the answer

A tired old claim. Every time someone in America stands up for the underprivileged, people like you run around screaming "Marxist! Marxist! The sky is falling!" People said this when Social Security was enacted to protect the elderly. They said this when we enacted free school lunches for the poor. They cried Marxism when we required equal schools for minorities, women's right to vote, medical care for the poor, and every other responsible measure taken by society to help someone who needed a hand. This isn't marxist. It's just human.

No.

And to the guy above me, Republicans would be considered Anarchists, not Fascists. The asker is polarizing the spectrum, and Fascism is actually surprisingly similar to Communism.

Absolutely not. It's the current code word for "liberal" -- cowardly big business liberals, unable to fully fight their conservative cousins because of their shared (wrong) assumptions about the "goodness" of capitalism, have yielded the field and are abandoning their own name.
