They did try, but FBI translator Sybil Edmunds blew the whistle on them. Google Sybil Edmunds and find out why her testimony was ommited from the 9/11 Ommission Report and John Ashcroft placed a gag order on her.
By the way Bush didn't plan or carry out 9/11 he was in a classroom reading a children's book about a goat.

I would not consider the events of 9-11 to be a 'success' - there was enough credible evidence left behind to effectively demonstrate that this might have been an "inside job". Secondly, I don't think the "Bush administration" had anything to do with the tragedy. There are soldiers, trained killers, mafia hitmen and paid mercenaries all over this cruel world who will kill other human beings without so much as the loss of a night's sleep. I do think it's possible that the Bush administration ordered the 'terrorist attack', or at least 'suggested' it to some dark and sinister entities in the bowels of our government. The 'coincidences' are just too 'coincidental' to be mere 'coincidences': * Larry Silverstein was a friend of the Bush family, and his Twin Towers were hemorrhaging millions of dollars in financial losses; * George W. Bush's younger brother was in charge of security for the building complex; * Countless experts, witnesses, observers, and theorists have come forward to claim the buildings were planned demolitions; * Demolition crews were in the building - on unoccupied floors - just days before the explosions; * An 'investigation' was hurriedly conducted and scrap from the buildings was suddenly used in the construction of a new U.S. battleship instead of being stockpiled for further studies, research and investigation. I think the Bush administration failed at this attempt to pull off a 'terrorist attack'; successful saboteurs would not have left so much damning or questionable evidence behind. This was not as 'pristine' a crime as was - perhaps - the Kennedy assassination. It was, in some circumstances, actually sloppy. Consider the events at Cleveland's Hopkins Airport at the exact time of the incidents in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. I believe 'we the people' have a constitutional right - and obligation - to hold our government to a modicum of skepticism, doubt and mistrust, considering all the times it's lied to us before, especially since the Fourth Estate no longer takes its job as watchdog very seriously. -RKO- 08/20/07

Bingo! That is one of the things that make the 9/11 conspiracy theory so unbelievable to me. If Bush could plan 9/11, surely he could have planted WMD or WMD components in Iraq so he wouldn't look so foolish for insisting Saddam had WMD.
Other problems with the theory: Why did he blame it on bin Laden if he wanted to get Saddam? If he is capable of killing 3,000 people for political gain, why haven't all the 9/11 "truthers" been killed? The type of person who would pull off 9/11 wouldn't let those who figured it out continue exposing the "truth"...; yet there are 9/11 "truther" groups operating openly in several places (selling t-shirts, etc) and they have been in operation for a few years now.

the wilder the story the less chance people will believe it! that is a conspiracy by itself!!! the fact is that this attack could have been prevented. there is no way that the intelligence service of England, Israel and USA couldn't see it coming! we enabled Bin Ladin to achieve the plan that was implanted somehow by some interest group in his head! Bin ladin most likely thinks he has done it all himself. the military corporation was going bankrupt after the cold war and there was a need for another enemy to justify the militarization and that is a fact. the best thing that could have happened for them! as far as planting WMD, it wasn't as simple since the international community could have not been tricked as easily!they didn't want to stir the crap more since it would have made it stink more!! also as you see people then would ask questions like yours; so they can undermine the conspiracy theory! peace

The truth that we failed to act is evident. Two of the hijackers were stopped by airport security. But failure to act is not the same thing as orchestrating.
The conspiracy talk is ridiculous and unfounded.
The failure to act talk because of how we as a nation behaved is just.
The question we now ask in 2007 is has it gotten better?
I think it has. The DHS exists and its sole purpose is to prevent these kinds of attacks. TSA falls under DHS. We now know that if we stop someone in line at the airport that we need to not just release the person.
We don't allow box cutters on planes, etc.
Are these measures effective? For planes yes.
Could they do something else, sure.
The train I ride is vulnerable someone could get on and take it over probably easy and cause havoc downtown here.
We are vulnerable.
I for one will not worry when I go to catch my train tonight.
Government worries, I do not any more.
Regardless of wether I worry, I am not in a position to act.
Since I am not in a position to act I am not responsible for doing anything. I can't control the outcome of if my train is made safe tonight or not.
We trust our government to look out for us.
We trust.

Surely you didn't expect any real responses when posting this question, did you?
That's because they don't exist. I agree with you, there likely is more to 9/11 than we've been told, but some of this stuff is so far overboard that it's downright pathetic.
If you get a decent, believable response.. Let me know.
