I will be there Saturday, Oct. 27th (arriving early afternoon, heading to an NHL game at night) and Sunday, October 28th (heading to an NFL game in the afternoon and leaving thereafter). Any recommended attractions (will have a few hours Saturday afternoon)? Hotels? Safety issues (have heard its the most dangerous city in the US...)? Anything else I should be aware of?

Your help is appreciated :)

You will probably want to get a motel downtown since that is where the games will be. If you get one close enough, you will be able to walk to the games.
Here are some hotels downtown

by the way, the Millinium has a revovling restuarant.

The Arch is the biggest attraction. It is something to see looking out of the top. It only cost $6-$10 per person

Since you won't have much time to site see you could go down on the Landing or the casinos.
The Landing has many different clubs and bars. They are in walking distance of each other so if you get to one and don't like the atmosphere, you can walk to a different one.

The closets casino is the President Casino but here is a list of others if you get a cab,

Hope this helps and have fun this weekend. Hope you are in town for the Browns because I don't have much faith left in the Rams for this year. I have went to two of their home games this year and we all know what happened at those since they are now 0-6.!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found this site. It is a good map of downtown and the things to do

Both of the games will be in the downtown area which is easily covered by MetroLink train or bus. Even cabs between these places and a downtown hotel will be cheap and faster than public transportation. I would definitely suggest that you stay at a downtown hotel. For a good price I love the Drury Inn downtown close to the convention center. There is another Drury close to Union Station. They give you a free happy hour with snacks and full free breakfast. Down town you can go to the Arch, Lacledes Landing, Becky Thatcher and Huck Finn River Boats and the President Casino. The downtown is now home to many high priced loft condos so the police protection is good and people walk around all the time. I would suggest though that you use good judgement and not walk down deserted dark side streets waving a handful of money. Good restaurants on Lacledes Landing and good clubs open till 3 AM on Washington Ave and also on the Landing.

The arch is really beautiful up close. It's the one thing that makes St. Louis stand out from the rest of the tourist cities.

You have to check out the city museum. It's the coolest place in town! Have fun at the Blues' game! Check out Union Station while you're around the Scottrade Center as well.

stay and play downtown and you'll have a good time. If you want a casino you have the President (sort of boring) on the MO side and across the Eads bridge in IL is the new Casino Queen (accessable by MetroLink)
