Here's the thing about castor oil. For most women it causes cramps and diarrhea, sometimes vomiting. And for a few, after taking the castor oil, they go into labor.
How can you prove that it was the castor oil which made them go into labor? You can't, esp. since the majority of women who use it DON'T get results. It's just circumstantial evidence.
If I were you I would let baby come when ready. Your body knows the time - don't force it. You'll probably just make yourself sick.

No, no, no castor oil.
It's very normal to dilate before your baby is actually ready to come.
My sister dilated 2 cms at 35/36 weeks, and stayed that way for a month.
All castor oil will do is make you vomit, have violent diarrhea, with a very good chance of serious dehydration.
Be patient. Baby will be here soon.

It irks me to no end that women still consider doing this, and to top it off, they don't call their doctor to ask for their professional medical opinion on the safety and efficacy of castor oil. As if it's ok to take a medication NOT intended for labor induction without mentioning it to your doc?
Please ladies, don't buy into this idea! At best, it is totally ineffective, at worst, it can be downright dangerous to you and baby. Women who have taken it and labor started soon afterwards cannot say with 100% certainty that labor wouldn't have started on its own without it, can they? Think about it.
Good luck, baby will come when it's ready, and if not, the doc will induce you in a medically approved fashion under careful supervision in the safe enviornment of a hospital.

I am not 100% sure, but have heard that taking castor oil can cause your baby to have a bowel movement while still in the womb which can be very harmful to the baby if he/she swallows it, so I would just let nature take its course. Good luck!!! :-)

Nipple stimulation- manually or by breast pump- may release the hormone oxytoxin, which can lead to contractions.
But the cervix must be ready to open for labor to actually begin. Nipple stimulation is unlikely to work unless
labor was about to begin anyways.(sometimes nipple stimulation can possibly lead to contractions that are long and hard enough to harm the baby)
Other techniques for inducing labor- such as having sex or eating pineapple or spicy food- aren't backed by scientific
evidence. If you want to try a certain food, go for it. Sex is OK, as long as your water hasn't broken.
**!!BUT GET YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS OK BEFORE TRYING ANY HOME REMEDIES OR ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS FOR INDUCING LABOR!!**

Don't take anything. Do a lot of walking. That's how I got my twins to come. Walk walk walk. For some reason, it helps it get going. Good luck to you!

Why don't you let it come naturally. The baby will come when he/she is ready.
