I think the reason fast food places only have white bread is because that's the most popular. Plus would wheat bread really taste good on a burger or chicken sandwich? Wheat bread doesn't go well with french fries and soda either. You have to understand that they are in it to make money and therefore they offer what is inexpensive, tastes good and what will sell.

Fast food companies are in business to make money, and there is not large enough demand for wheat bread to justify the extra cost and effort! The are not losing many customers because of the lack of wheat bread, and most people who are seriously worried about healthy eating are not their target customers anyway!

If something is important to you, I am sure you can find it at another restaurant!

Mickey D's does post their nutrition details (http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.index1.html). One can always opt for grilled chicken instead of fried, get a wrap, go Atkins and throw out the bread, or just eat a salad. The options are there, yet people continue to eat at McDonnald's, often choosing the "guilty pleasures" instead of the healthy options.

Wendy's (http://www.wendys.com/food/pdf/us/nutrition.pdf) includes potential allergens in their list.

Burger King has this: http://www.bk.com/Nutrition/PDFs/brochure.pdf

If someone is ordering a bacon double cheeseburger with fries, the white bread isn't the real problem.

I live in canada and some of the resturants are strating to use whole wheat buns on some of the menu items.
I know here at a&w there is a chicken burger and veggie burger that they use whole wheat for and mcdonalds uses it with there sandwiches, im not sure about the other resturants.

White bread is the least of the problems those places have. Their fries are made not in vegetable oil, but BEEF FAT. Can you say cholesterol? And the sodas they sell? Half sugar. I don't darken their doors.

If you HAVE to eat out, Subway has wheat bread, and you can always drink fresh brewed ice tea. (NOT Nestea!) Or water. Nothing wrong with water.

i'm sure it has sumthing to do with the price point. i dont think enuff people would buy a wheat hamburger to substantiate the cost of the bread. not a large profit margin. but u should send them an email and suggest it.

Wheat bread has no taste to most people , but white flour does, and besides! it's about taste! not health properties.
then people ask a question on Why? people are obese.
you are what you eat! is the answer.
