No. The misconceptions about it are all just silly.

It does not mean that you are promiscuous (some are, of course, but no more so than the rest of the population).

It does not mean that you can't be faithful to a partner. Just because your interest range is broader, that doesn't mean that you need constant variety.

Also, it's not "just a phase" or a building stone to being fully on the queer end of the continuum. While sexuality is fluid and can change somewhat over a person's lifetime, most people stay somewhere close to their "original" orientation.

As for it being a mental illness, ignore your parents. Bisexuality is found all over the animal kingdom, and it's completely natural.

I have to say NO
I am Bi-sexual and I am 50/50
what I say about my sexual orientation is that I am an Equal Opportunity Lover.
I can enjoy the strong touch of a man. Or the Soft warm embrace of a women.
As far as it being some type of Mental Disorder I cannot. Say because everything you like is due to the neuro-firings you have when you come in contact with the thing or situation.

So if someone is telling you that you have a mental disorder because you are bi-sexual. Ask them if they have some type of mental disorder that causes them to eat that huge bag of chips. Its all brain connections

No. Not at all.

Some people just portray bisexuals in a negative light, especially bisexual men. Bisexual women are often accused of being attention whores and just pretending to be bi, because it is "trendier" than being straight Bisexual men are accused of lying about being gay, and are often blamed by others for spreading HIV to the rest of the population, when really IV drug use is to blame for that.

It is certainly not a mental disorder. Bisexuality has been proven to exist at the level of brain tissue and body development by scientists. All varieties of homosexuality used to be classified as mental disorders, but after further study, the American Psychiatric Association realized that sexual orientation cannot be changed and removed it from their list of disorders. Statistically, bisexuality is more common than homosexuality among women, and homosexuality is more common than bisexuality among men, though in all groups most people lean more towards one side of the spectrum or the other. True 50-50 bisexuals are very rare. (I'm one of those^_^)

Bisexuals are open minded, loving people, not dirty whores. Too many people are just ignorant and afraid.

Being bi sexual isn't a bad thing but, one day it could become an dangerous one. If you are bi just be careful not to slip up not even once so what! if it becomes good don't slip and fall you just might crack your face. I'm a gay woman but, I'm committed you might want to try that. Tell your mother it's not a mental thing it happens and it's real. I too was bi but I didn't run though a mental state I knew from the beginning that I wanted woman but, never found one that was pleasing enough for me I'm pickie.(I want what I want and how I want it)! I'm very much educated with certification behind me now that's not mental is it.

No! A lot of theories say that everyone is a little bisexual, so that would make everyone a little bad, I guess...? To say that it's a disorder to like men and women is like saying it's a disorder to like chocolate and vanilla ice cream. You don't have to choose!

No it isn't. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is good. You are without sexual hangups and capable of loving and giving love to more people than straights or gays. Congratulations!!!
