I think they are emulating a general trend towards a more casual look, probably to make themselves seem more in tune with the people and less aloof. William Hague got that famously wrong with his baseball cap. I personally believe that there is a time and place for everything and, for men, ties look businesslike and professional.

No. Ties are ridiculous. They dont keep you warm and they get in the way of everything,you try to do. I like asian style shirts with necks but no collars.

its not as though they cant afford a shot silk tie is it , i think they should wear a tie,
