In common parlance the phrase " By Thor's hammer!" has become popular as a general Viking saying. "By Odin's beard!" would be another variation.

It was in some Scandinavian language so I didn't catch it.
Seriously, most pirates did not say "argg." That is Hollywood. Pirates came from all walks of life. Besides the common seaman who went to sea with no education at all, you had the sons of merchants, clergymen, landowners, and minor nobility in their ranks. Most were in it for the money and the excitement. A few joined because their only choice was to join or die when their ships were captured.
True pirates rarely survived more than five years because they couldn't just quit (their crewmates wouldn't allow it) and their luck usually ran out fairly quickly. The only mercy a true pirate could expect was a quick death in battle. Otherwise it was the hangman's noose.

Well, this Viking would say "Hello, how are you today!" If the answer was incorrect, I would have to whack your head off.
