I don't understand what would be the problem with it. Sure your friends or maybe even you will feel a little embarassed and that's pretty normal. I don't know how to ice skate and many other don't either. Either way both horseriding and ice skating are unique hobbies and its great that you're willing to try. Horseriding is very cool as well.

Why childish I have seen seniors learning how to skate or get horse-riding lessons no age limit. Horse-riding can lead you into equestrian and some colleges even have clubs. Even if you don't go into any competitions you'll always have a great skill letting you take advantage in a outdoors recreation.

Ice Skating even if you will not be an Olympic star this still is a good skill you'll have latter on in regards to getting exercise, perhaps joining a club in synchronized skating, or even teaching kids as an instructor.

not at all, and some who start that early go on to become another member of Stars on Ice or Olympic champion.
