My husband and I are selling his 1989 Chevy Camaro we paid 1,700 for it we needed it as an emergency came up and we bought it from a friend. Since its 8 cyl and wastes too much gas we are looking to sell it. And are looking to sell it for around $1,200. It has about 556,000 miles and Registration doesnt expire til 10/08, also needs body work, and has t-tops. Are we asking too much?

Here is what I would recommend doing.
Go to this website http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/
There you will get the blue book value of your car. Make sure you click Private Party.
And base your decision from there.
But with as little as I know about the car, I would say somewhere between 900 to 1200

To tell you the truth, I don't think I've ever seen a car with 556,000 miles. $1200 would be about right if it had say 125,000 miles and the body was still in pretty good shape. If you can get $500-$750 consider yourself lucky. As far as NADA and KBB guides, if the mileage you listed is correct, you can throw those out the window. They can't adjust for mileage that high.

Yep. Too much. However, if the interior is nice and the t-tops aren't screwed, you could probably get $500-700 for it depending on who wants it. Stick $900 on the window and put OBO under it. Take the best you get. Camaros are solid cars. It wouldn't take much to rip the engine out and either rebuild it or (better yet) completely replace it. They make good round track cars, too. Check ebay. Good Luck!

I think as long as it's running and is an 8 cyl with T-tops that is a fair price. There's alot Camaro enthusiasts that are willing to buy your car for that price.

Unfortunately there isn't a high demand for this car in the condition you have described. With that said you can always go down on the price you can't go up, so ask 1,200 for it and come down if it doesn't sale or if someone makes you a reasonable offer.

How many miles? What's when the registration expires got to do with anything? It's not going to do the next owner any good.If it has that many miles on it and needs all kinds of work I think your asking way to much for it.

I love Camaros. But are you serious about that mileage? Was it driven to the moon a few times?????? 56K, right? It is worth probably $1000-$1200. If it needs extensive body work, you might consider lowering the price tag a bit.

According to KBB.com, in fair condition - here, where I live...near seattle, it's right about right...however, if you live somewhere cheaper, it's probably a little high.
And I just used all the standard options but added the T-bar.

I was going to say $500 until I saw the mileage. $200 since it could go any day.
