but I have regretted saying yes to a date. LOL!

I met a guy 2 years ago who I would say yes to if he were to ask me out now. But I was right to turn him down back then because I wasn't quite right in the head after dating a few years of dating very strange and unsuitable guys.

Yes and woefyully. It goes back about 25 years. I had an intimate interlude with a close friend one evening. We were both involved with other people but had serious doubts about those other liaisons. My friend called me the day after our encounter and told me that he had broken off with his fiance and wanted me to drop the man I was with and go with him. I wanted to but I scorned him. I was afraid--afraid of change and, frankly, afraid of the man I was then involved with (who I ended up marrying and enduring a nightmarish 6 years with before getting the emotional help I needed to be free and happy and have a healthy sense of self and volition). I never heard from my friend again. I can't find him. I sorely regret this episode of my life . It's like an Oprah episode but without the happy ending.

Not so much turning them down....
But the fact that I was too "nice" to turn them down and then basically stood them up instead. I can just crawl under a rock when I think back at how mean that was. I just didn't know how to turn someone down to their face.
