The US has worked with murderous militia in the western provinces of Iraq and the northern areas of Afghanistan, so yes, Al Qaeda could have been an ally, but not after 9-11 though.

Considering the US is now arming the insurgents in Iraq to help fight Al Quaeda (which you know is going to turn around and bite them in the @rse) and previously arms and cash were sent to Afghanistan to help see off the Russians, much of which ended up in the hands of the chaps the US are now at war with - then no doubt if Al Quaeda did something that positive in the minds of the US government or suddenly proved useful they would probably dop off the "bad guy" radar. It's happened in other situations before.

Never happen.
If they are like most sophisitcated insurgent groups, the first thing they'll do is add to the confusion by busting open jails and releasing prisoners to add to the confusion.

They are a little concerned that the Democrats might beat them to it.

What do you have against TGIF's? They have good pepper corn steak and they don't make all their employees where those stupid buttons anymore.
