For me it is often a seasonal thing. I like a good hot soup in the winter or chilly weather & salads in the summer or whenever it is hot outside.

I like salad better than soup usually. However, if I knew a restaurant had good soup and it was a type I liked, I may choose the soup.

Salad. Soup gets me too full to enjoy the dinner.

Soup. Especially chicken noodle soup. Salad is okay but it's not much of a side dish.

Depends on what kind of soup and how fresh the salad is.

I would prefer a salad as a side item.

Salad, unless it's a chinese place, their soups are better than their salads, it's the opposite in other places IMO.

Soup because I hate restaruant salads. The veggies are never as fresh as I like them.
