What do I do?

I think it has something to do with the inverse f-1

Dear Luby,
Take down a table with two columns. 1st column value of x and second column value of f(x) obtained from the above equation. Then x vs f(x) draw a graph on graph sheet.
x =0. f(x)= (+ or -)3
x=1. f(x)=square root of 8. irrational number
x=2 =square root of 5. irrational number
(x=3 =0
4 = square root of( -7) not a real number.

if the function is 1-1, for every value ox there should be only one solution and for any value of f(x) there should be only one solution.
Here f(x) being the value obtained as a square root, so if any real values exist , they are two solutions i.e (+))or( _). and fr these two values of f(x) there is only one solution in x.
AS we saw above we don't get all real solutions for real values of x. So this not 1-1.

One to one means that it passes the vertical and horizontal line tests. Once you graph it, make sure that no line vertical or horizontal line intersects two points on the function. And this is used to test whether a function has an inverse.

set square root of [9 - x(squared) ] equal to 0.
square both sides ( it will give you 9-x^2=0).
move x^2 to the other side (9=x^2).
take the square root of both sides (+or-3=x)
