That is, according to the latest Gallup poll. (Actually Hillary's lead is now almost 30% over Obama, and she looks unbeatable). Can someone make a credible argument that these two won't be our choice in November 2008? Does anyone still see a viable 3rd party candidate on the horizon who has any sort of chance of being elected?

stephenm: there have been dozens of polls in recent months from different orgainzations, and they all have Ron Paul at about 2-3%. You're engaging in wishful thinking as opposed to reality.

Katles: For the 2004 democratic primary, Dean was slighty ahead of a few others, which include the eventual winner, John Kerry. Right now, Hillary is polling more than double ahead of Obama, her nearest competitor. It's a completely different scenario than the last time around.

Gallup got it wrong on the last two presidential elections. I wouldn't put any faith in their numbers.

Hopefully there is time for Unity08 or someone to come up with a viable alternative to Hillary and Rudy.

Since they are about the same on social issues, and not all that far apart on other issues, I would think their nominations would be a great help to third parties or bipartisan/nonpartisan efforts like Unity08. Liberals and conservatives alike should see little to lose if they pull votes away from either Rudy or Hillary.

At this point I don't see a viable third party candidate and may end up voting for Joe Schriner, who will get far less than 1% of the vote ... but like I said, there is nothing to lose in a Hillary vs. Rudy election. Might as well vote for someone I agree with on issues and not worry about viability.

I think people in the South are warming up to Rudy because he is the alternative to Hillary Clinton and is seen as the candidate who can defeat her by bringing moderate Democrats into his camp. Most red states would vote for Rudy over Hillary and if he could bring a couple of blue states over he can win. A third party candidate would cause problems for one of the candidates depending on where they stand. Bill Clinton beat George Bush because of Perot. George W. Bush beat Gore because of Nader. If someone like Ron Paul runs as a 3rd party candidate, he will essentially give the election to Hillary.

According to the mainstream media yes these two are the only choices they want us to believe we have. Ron Paul is gaining tremendous support from american patriots and the military. He can win believe and support him he is the last chance for a free america.

Perfect scenario for the Democrats.
One real Democrat, and one 'Democrat in drag'. (Pun intended)

Worse scenario still:
Ron Paul runs a an Independent!

Democrat landslide!

I'm not voting for either of them...and no, I don't see any hope for a third party candidate to actually win.

The reason they got it wrong the last 2 elections was because they were fixed. I don't think that'll happen again.

Hillary Clinton will be our next president. She is the most qualified, the most experienced and she's READY TO LEAD.
