when Bush was running for president in 2000, he wrote a letter to the Armenian National Committee affirming that the Armenians were “subjected to a genocidal campaign.” He promised that if “elected president,” he would make sure that the United States “properly recognizes” the tragedy. From his letter:

The twentieth century was marred by wars of unimaginable brutality, mass murder and genocide. History records that the Armenians were the first people of the last century to have endured these cruelties. The Armenians were subjected to a genocidal campaign that defies comprehension and commands all decent people to remember and acknowledge the facts and lessons of an awful crime in a century of bloody crimes against humanity. If elected President, I would ensure that our nation properly recognizes the tragic suffering of the Armenian people.

The problem is the timing. Why are the Democrats, who have a history of trying to lose the war, doing this now? Do you think that this just might piss off our Turkish ally? And then what would be the consequences of that? Don't kid me and tell me the Democrats got virtuous all of a sudden.

The whole thing he came up with that we need Turkey is all BS. If he cares so much about Freedom, being free and terrorism and wont stand for it. Why is he allies and defending Turkey who has no freedom of speech. You go to jail for talking about the armenian genocide and insulting turks, a country that still does honor killings, denied a jihad (genocide) that was comitted killing over 1 million christians, re-writes history books about, etc?

They even sent their most famous Turkish citizen to jail Orhan Pamuk- whos a Nobel Peace Prize Winner for saying the Armenian Genocide happened. He had to leave Turkey for fear of being killed.

Because they have these short teeny weeny memories.. promises are just words that come out of their mouths and disappear into thin air.

They are not to be trusted no matter what they say.. and certainly Bush should not be trusted.. he is a proven liar.

The Republicans also tried to push this through Congress twice. Once in 2000 and once in 2005. Oddly enough, no one wants to talk about that.

Don't spend to much time on Bush's campaign promises. He also promised NOT to be a nation builder.

Remember this Bush statement while campaigning?

if we don't stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road. And I'm going to prevent that

Strictly a timing issue.

The Dem's want to make the execution of Iraqi front more difficult, and how better to remove a tactical ally while at the same time coming across as doing what is right.

I think we should keep loving our liberal congressmen that make America look so divided and unsophisticated and are showing the world we have no respect for our President.

I don't think congress should waste its time on issues that can only hurt foreign relations today.

How does this benefit the USA? It does not so lets not do it.

"Why are Republicans complaining"

Your rant lost me after that.

You make it sound like you're speaking on behalf of smearing all republicans. Common.

Poor.
Common.
Poor.

You're really out of touch to accuse a whole party aren't you?
