No, not in the real world!

In most states it's not required unless you are a certain age trying to get married. In some states if you are 18 and under you have to complete marriage counseling even with your parents consent. In some states they require after applying for your license you wait 48 to 72 hours before you can get married. However most of the times when marriage counseling is done it's because it's based on religion, the church and pastor that's marrying you.

It's not required here, unless you are getting married at a church (my only experience is with Catholic churches, so I do not know about others), but it's not the same thing as a real marriage counselor. It's just the priest and other engaged couples and they ultimately want you to decide if it's the right thing for you. I, however, would recommend marriage counseling with a therapist to any engaged couple. There is no way that it can hurt, it can only help each person know if it's the right thing for them!

I dont believe its ever required unless you're getting married in a church, the pastor or minister may recommend it.
Ya know, its never a bad idea, even for a couple after marriage, like of 13 years, marriage counseling can come in practical

Marriage counseling is not required in any state by law.

Marriage couseling may be administered within a church if you choose to marry in a church. This depends on the denomination and the individual church. Most churches that require counseling only require three sessions or so, often with the preacher of the church.

Take care,

You do not require marriage counselling before the marriage, but you require counselling for the marriage before marriage. I hope I am not confusing you. Usually people will go for marriage counselling (-court marriage counselling-) after the marriage if there is any difference of opinion and if they apply for divorce. In your case I recommend you for marriage counselling to keep your marriage life in a healthy way. They will give you some important tips before your marriage and that will help you to avoid all the misunderstand and complications in your marriage life. Anyhow all the best for your marriage and I pray for your longest marriage life as possible, may God bless you both, yours,

Not from a legal standpoint. Some churches and other organizations may require it if you want to get married by them, but that is a whole different story.

In the end, marriage, like having a child, should be subject to some minimal standards, but, sadly, is not.

It is not required by law, but it often a requirement by churches if you are to use thier sactuary and/or minister. It was required by my church when I married but honestly it was more a formality than anything. When my former priest found out I was separated, the comment was made, "I could have told them that would be the result." Honestly, I wish I had been told, but maybe that isn't the role either.

If you are getting married in a church then the Priest or Pastor will chat with the couple before he marries them. But not actual counseling. Not in Washington state anyway.

no- but i do know if you want to get married in the catholic church you will have to attend marriage classes. I think its very good to go to counseling before you get married. Lean tools on how to argue, etc.

that depends on how you want to get married. if you want to get married by the church then it probably is. most churches require you to go through counseling with them first. however if you are having a judge or justice of the peace do it then it isnt necessary.
